People just want something to whine about, they take a subject and run with it ripping it to pieces and generating hate!

If they actually to took the time to do some real research on the issues they would fined they actually had no point posting half of it!

If it was 1642 I wonder which of us would be drawn to the different camps of the Civil War.

I'd go with the Parliamentary side myself, better costumes and Charles I was an arse. Then again, Cromwell wasn't much better in the end, which is why we got Charles II and the Bill of Rights.

Note the word 'obfuscation', I feel it's very apt. She is also not subject to the same rules as lesser mortals.

Unlike the members of the Commons and now the Lords, the Queen does not have to annually declare her interests and as a result her subjects cannot question her or know about potential conflicts of interests. She could be investing in firms selling military hardware, performing controversial biotech research or she could just have a portfolio of blue-chip firms.

The point is that we, her subjects, don't know, and probably will never have the means to know.

Nobody can say how much wealth the Queen has but there are various estimates from which we can safely conclude she is stinkingly rich and in no need of any handouts. To the poster who was defending the royals on behalf of the British, please don't bother on my account. I think that even as powerless figureheads the royal family are repugnant and have no place in a modern society.

To the posters who are bickering about which countries are the worst to live in, again don't bother, I doubt any country is exempt from what is to come. The people at the top of the food chain are not the royals but they are a symbol of the modern feudal rulers that remain hidden. We should not be fighting among our selves, you have fallen for the divide and conquer tactic.

To be honest I really couldn't care less, the less I know about what they’re doing the more happier I'll be..

Get over yourself.

Maybe it is you who should research Scottish history. I know how much you Americans get a hard-on claiming ancestry, mainly because you lack a coherent culture of your own. The Picts suffered mainly at the hands of Gaelic and Viking invaders, but lets not digress.

As for the weak (not week..excellent spelling there) British (which includes the Scottish btw), you won the Revolutionary war solely on the fact that the French helped you out and we were far more concerned with the War we were fighting with them at the time than your little rebellion. Had you no French help and we were not at war at the time, history would be different.

and the picts were here in america and canada since the 1400's.. when was the last time UK won a war? without the USA doing most of the fighting? how did 1776 turn out??

the picts were pretty much the only group to successfully withstand onslaughts of vikings, romans and britany.. yeah i know, everyone is jealous of the scots for some reason, yet none the world over could defeat us..

Hahaha! How can you possibly know you have Pictish ancestry? The Picts were absorbed into the Gaelic kingdoms by the end of the 10th century and you would have an extremely hard time proving you had Pictish ancestors. You could just as easily have Angle or Gealic ancestors, so unless you have had a genetic test done, you cannot say this with any degree of certainty and givent he 1,000+ years that has past, any "pictish" blood is likely to be weaker than American beer.

I guess you missed the Reformation and Henry VIII? The Crown has no love for the Roman catholic Church and I don't think you're shedding light on any secrets by claiming the Catholic Church is descended from the Roman empire, this is common knowledge. The clue is in the name!

Er, we could actually. Hence why Operation Sea Lion was cancelled because we defeated the Luftwaffe in the summer of 1940, then cracked their codes and won the Battle of the Atlantic. I was watching BBC documentary on bears in your country.
There was a big old black bear that had one eye,

It was shot in the face by an american, the man who shot in the face said proudly that the bear had been in his garden eating dandelions and it looked at him. Because it looked at him he shot it in the face!!!

Why the hell would anybody do that. Shoot first ask later, It is you who are weak without your insane rule over firearms you would be a bunch of shaking wrecks, paranoia is ripe through your country and its a great shame.

If you just took a moment to understand this it would change you for the better, but you would rather hide behind your guns thinking your a bad ass.

This ancestor thing is a complete joke raking up the past in this way is stupid. I lost a friend once years ago in a terrorist bombing carried out by the IRA.
I have family in ireland and shortly after the bombing i was over there vissiting, i met a few lads who told me they hate the english, i am welsh so i was in no danger at the time. I asked them why they hate the english, they told me because of the patatoe famine and what had happened to their ancestors!!!

I didn't argue with them at the time because i would have been shot but it's speaks for itself.

The modern day person has no control over what their ancestors did and in most cases doesn't share the same views as their ancestors had.

I lost a friend because of something that happened years ago involving people we never new were never going know who shared views on subjects we frankly nowadays don't give a toss about its ridiculous!!!!!!

Indeed, alot of pain over stuff no-one today has any involvement in for a cuase very few supported. I spent a few years in Belfast as well as germany under constant threat by IRA murderers and my dad lost a close friend to a car bomb, he had only gone to the NAAFI to do his shopping and some silly bar steward placed an explosive under his car.

They would even target us kids, we needed to live behind a 40ft steel wall and be escorted to school by a platoon of soldiers when in Belfast, what had we (the children, not our ancestors) done to them?

you know history is passed down thru family.. i guess my great grandfather just made it all up. bunchrew is the actual local area my family came from in eastern scotland.. my name even bears such. i didn't even understand it all as a youngster but now have great pride in knowing we picts DO still live.. many of us in the appalachian mountain ranges who intermarried with the cherokee, ill bet the cherokee know as much about the picts as anyone. but since YOU never read it in YOUR books it never happened. the Clan structure of the cherokee was adopted from the picts.. there were 2 main pictish clans the (forgive my spelling) the Dalraitians(?) and the Bunch clans. but that mumbo jumbo wasn't in the crown published books so it never happened, right?

im a former marine, 6'3 240 lbs. so, yeah i would say im brave without a gun.. genetics played a huge part in early america survival of the fittest and all. which is why the avg american is taller and larger than avg brit. many things impact history. the most critical is war.. yeah who wins a war matters---- until the next war.. imagine if the irish could have been a friendly neighbor instead of subjects.. course us extinct "fake" picts never allied with the welsh and irish either?

bears maul people, i would shoot a bear if it was in my yard too. should i just let my kids play in our field knowing a hungry bear is near? did you know bears kill peple for NO reason? there are acres of ofrest behind my property and would never allow one to walk away, it might come BACK HUNGRIER THAN BEFORE. i have a dog called a cur, which was bred for hunting bear.. the black bears here in north carolina get over 600 lbs. largest black bears anywhere. bears taste good, maybe the guy missed the brain and hit the eye. what was the bear's side of the story? would you like to know a bear is lurking around your land?
