I joined my aging parents tonight for drinks.
I listened a lot again to old stories, and tried to be very engaging.

I was devastated when my father asked me: "Are you a man or a woman"?
I didn't understand.
I have a beard on my face, and my mom says I've become quite muscled.

Then it was all about how I move my hands (I didn't even notice), and people in my "motherland" who said that when I visited at age 15 I seemed like a girl to them.
I didn't even know.

Not that it matters.
But I've been trying hard.

Trying hard to do what?

That's a very strange thing for a parent to say.

Well, if the motherland is Russia, then how can they even tell the difference..?

And anyways - you're a halfoldman - you should be beyond caring...

Be whatever is comfortable for ya.. forget anyone else.. tell them they look wierd the way they do something.. and move on.. we all have quirks.. unless infact you are a woman and you want justification of not having junk. but if ya gots it, well just shrug off their stupid thoughts and laugh at it.

If your parents don't know you should ask them if they are your actual parents. Seems pretty odd to me.

Did your Dad expect you to arm wrestle him or something??

People give a lot away with body language. What I have noticed with older people is they tend to not express themselves as much as the younger. Maybe told not to show emotion (sign of weakness) etc.

Maybe they were just joking with you and you should take it as a pinch of salt.
The thing is .....does it really matter how others perceive you.
You know who you are inside and what you feel. So care not about others perceptions, some people judge but that's because they are not happy with themselves. Do not take it to heart....Damn I should be a shrink

Take care
Regards

Oh, honey, don't try to do that! Don't try to be something you're not. Just be who you are and tell your parents to get over it.

Your father probably has dementia?

I don't know, or maybe you're just androgynous.

Ahh Parents, such a blessing and a curse. If we still have them we feel lucky and will miss them we they pass they can also be a royal pain in the behind when suffer foot in mouth.

You will survive.

see this statement leads me to believe you have other information being witheld making the question a trick question.. but i stick to my original comment, and add that if you are something, be it.. dont hide behind beards or muscles, dont hide behind smiles and arm gestures.. be yourself and proud of it.. whatever it may be... just no pedophilia or murderous thoughts and you should be decent

Just be you. Don''t try hard to be anything your not or feel like your not. Life is too short, enjoy your life and who you are.

Different areas have different customs. But it is somewhat how you act. You don't just magically wake up one day and you're what is perceived as being a "man". It does depend a lot on your body language. The way you open doors, do you push them open with just your arm muscles, or do you have to use all of your weight? They way you sit in a chair, do you sit low and back? These things may not seem questionable to you, but others take them as cues to gauge your "seniority".

At least from my studies.

No. no - I have no dirty secrets.
I'm just a gay man.
I like men my own age, or even older.
I didn't even realize that my hand movements were THAT obvious.
It's just weird hearing from points in your life (that you experienced as in the closet and butch), and later you hear everybody thought you acted like a "girl"?
