The pot and the kettle (politicla backpeddling and confusion)

Over the last couple of years, I have seen (and been involved in) bickering back and forth on the left vs. right issues. There seems to have been a heavy onslaught of finger pointing from the right as to the poor state of things that have been created by the left (Nazi, commie, socialist...you name it). Now with a changing of the guard, there have been some issues that have already come up in the 112th Congress.

What I find interesting is that those that previously supported the right are now varying their stance from thread to thread. I won't post specifics, per T&C. What I am seeing is the historical righties getting caught up in a scenario where they presented with irrefutable evidence that "right" was in the wrong (or guilty of things they previously accused the left of). In those cases, I see specific members saying something along the lines of "well, both parties are evil"... Then, I toggle to another thread and see the same member taking jabs at the left, while praising the right.

The reason I bring this up is because this is an interesting time. A time where folks previously supporting one party are now confronted with what appears to be an identity crisis...or have reached a point of desperation, in which they feel that they must defend their "reputation" by deflection and "designer" pandering to the tastes of the individual thread. It's interesting because the pot that formerly called the kettle black now appears to be both a pot and a kettle...and a ladle to boot.

This truly is political madness. My party failed. Your party failed. So, lets see...can we possible drop the political bickering and have constructive discussions minus the right vs. left paradigm? Or shall we mirror congress and continue the status quo?

Just to make things fair, certain members that defend the left has been no less guilty in the past...and present.

OMG Am I becoming moderate?

Nah....I'm just tired of the finger-pointing....I would prefer to save my finger pointing towards Washington D.C.

Agreed, though feel free to check my post history, you will see that I'm against them both. I firmly believe that both parties currently in office are a travesty to this country. But unfortunately, on this type of web site, your gonna have the emotions. The leaning left tend to base their arguments from emotion, rather than facts. The righties tend to devote their arguments based off the history of the 80's.

Regardless, we were all duped. With the constant infringement of our rights and liberties, I just don't think the bickering between the lines will ever cease.

Agreed! In an idealistic world, the entire country would set aside the L v. R paradigm, come together in our common interests (American citizens), straighten out our failing government, then go back to business as usual. The problems we face today are much grander than a party line. Hopefully Americans will see things more clearly as the next few weeks go by.

Im hoping, though I don't think theres much chance, but Im hoping to see Ron Paul really bring down the hammer on the Federal Reserve goons. Alteast bring issues, valid arguments to the publics eye. The more the public see's these travesties for their own eyes, the more they are likely to want to stand up and vote for once, for the right candidate, the lesser of two evils. This election, we embraced the the biggest of two evils, and the ol slogan goes with out argument, " actions speak louder than words".

But there lies another problem: " the lesser of two evils".

That would be a great start. Ron Paul is going to need serious support though. Otherwise, he will be like the proverbial "old man" shaking his finger at the youth of America, yet lacks the strength to do anything about it.

Absolutely. That phrase has become too acceptable in society. If both options are evil, then why throw hands up and accept the lesser? Why not eliminate the evil? Complacency at it's best.

I can not agree with you more. We are no longer represented by those we elect. I don't know but I think that somewhere in the constitution it says something like,"If the federal government no longer works to represent the American people then the American people have the right to throw off that government and elect a new one." If that right exist then maybe it is time to start thinking about doing something.

That is a big negative. But that right does exist. It was proclaimed to be held self evident within the Declaration of Independence.

War sucks, try living in Iraq or Afghanistan and they will tell you all about it, who ever is left any way. There is a battle going on in the American government with which entity has the right to govern, the corporate or the human. With so much new technology coming out it is a bit concerning where all this will go. It is going to take courage, fortitude, integrity and capability to confront it, it is your self determination on the line, is it worth it?
