Judges rule cross at Calif. park unconstitutional
SAN DIEGO (AP) - A federal appeals court has ruled that a San Diego war memorial cross in a public park is unconstitutional.
The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals issued the 3-0 decision Tuesday in a two-decade dispute over the cross at Mount Soledad.
In its decision, the court says the cross conveys a message of government endorsement of religion that violates the Constitution.
The court, however, says its decision does not mean that no cross can be part of the memorial. It says modifications can be made to make it constitutional but doesn't specify what the changes would be.

Read the Constitution. You will not find the term "separation of Church and State". You will find the First Amendment however. And common sense should tell you this is NOT what the Founders ment.
Thomas Jefferson. Church and State
Believing with you that religion is a matter which lies solely between man and his god, that he owes account to none other for his faith or his worship, that the legitimate powers of government reach actions only, and not opinions, I contemplate with sovereign reverence that act of the whole American people which declared that their "legislature" should "make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof," thus building a wall of separation between church and State. Adhering to this expression of the supreme will of the nation in behalf of the rights of conscience, I shall see with sincere satisfaction the progress of those sentiments which tend to restore to man all his natural rights, convinced he has no natural right in opposition to his social duties.

Justice Hugo Black wrote, "In the words of Thomas Jefferson, the clause against establishment of religion by law was intended to erect a wall of separation between church and state."
Things like this..................
Let those who worship idols have their idols. There is only one almighty, and it is far beyond being represented by anything as small as a cross. Look UP!!

Well said and thank you bezzer.
I am sure that this ruling has a lot of support from those whom do not see themselves as being "religious" and from any not of the Christian faith.
They were supported in this ruling and this ruling, like those before it, is a step.
With each supported step we come closer to the future rulings that you may not support. But by that time your support will not be wanted or needed.
Now it is all things "Christian". What is next?
