China is preparing for a D-Day type invasion of Taiwan. 18000
troops will participate in the mock assault on Dongshan Island 240km from the southern tip of Taiwan. The invasion is part of the "taking of the Taiwan Strait" reported a Shanghai newspaper

CHINESE soldiers will for the first time practise a D-Day style invasion of Taiwan on a densely populated island off the mainland coast this month.

The 18,000-man mock landing on the beaches of Dongshan Island is to involve amphibious assault craft, Russian-built fighter jets and submarines operating in the Taiwan Strait to ward off a simulated counter-attack by the US Seventh Fleet.

Reports of the exercise were greeted with thousands of supportive messages yesterday in mainland internet chatrooms, a sign of the immense popularity of Beijing's policy of striving for the eventual return of Taiwan.

This exercise could explain the why the US Summer Pulse exrcise is being held off the coast of Taiwan. Just making sure that China's exercise is just that, an exercise. It is very dangerous to have this many opposing military in such close vicinity, hopefully the exercises can go on with no incident.

Below is another quick story about the US exercise mentioning the Chinese exercise.

We rattle, they rattle. THe Dragon is simply unable to invade Taiwan. Not enuf fibs. Period. They are just showing that they are paying attention and are still interested in raping and pillaging Taiwan. They could level the country will all of thier missiles pointed at it, but it would want to take it intact to help thier economy

anybody think the "worlds" armies are just bored. Having nothing else to do and needing a reason to have the individual political structures to approve of new defense spending they are conspiring together to stage these, mock deployments, when in reality they are all in-cohoots with each other knowing full well what each side is up to and laying out a game plan to show weaknesses on both sides so that they will have credible evidence to support the request for more defense spending ????

What if this whole thing is a shame over the people of the nations and there are secret meeting being held by high ranking military officials as to who "loses" each mock engagment ????

Remember the forces themselves do not actually have to meet, just have close enough intelligence to determine capabilities and total firepower, threat etc.

This is the Truth of the matter. I believe there are some real tensions but mostly war is a bussines... you bet they pump up the public to justify more spending

China tends to conduct major exercises almost every year, ususally in an attempt to remind Taiwan that they don't think its smart for them to declare independence any time soon.
