It seems that all us addicts on these boards are at risk from developing myopia.

Watching too much television and spending too long in front of a computer is behind rising rates of short-sightedness, say scientists.

This appears to be a world-wide problem. In Singapore, 80% of 18 year old recruits are short-sighted, as are 50% of 12 year old (expected to rise to 70% by the age of 18) Swedish school children.

This affects employment.

Police and other employers are having problems finding people who meet their requirements for good sight.

So folks, make your appointments at the opticians and give up your plans to be policemen/firemen etc.

It's far too late. My vision's 20/700 and slowly getting worse. Since I'm a computer jock, I'm afraid it's never actually going to improve.

Someone I know DID say that the "magic picture" images that force your eye to focus in a "distance" work to help strengthen the eye and reduce some of the effects of nearsightedness. Unfortunately, I can't remember to do them all the time.
