Saudi Arabia 'detains' Israeli vulture for spying

www.bbc.co.uk

The griffon vulture was carrying a GPS transmitter bearing the name of Tel Aviv University, prompting rumours it was part of a Zionist plot.
Israeli officials told Ma'ariv they were "stunned" by the allegations and concerned that the bird could meet a horrible punishment in the notoriously severe Saudi justice system.

Another bird related story , but this hasn't died..... yet .
Just when I thought the Middle East couldn't get any madder I came across this story on the BBC web site .
It kinda remind me of an incident that happened here in the UK , the Hartlepool Monkey hanging .

During the Napoleonic Wars a French ship was wrecked off the Hartlepool coast , Among the wreckage lay a sorrowful looking survivor, the ship's pet monkey dressed to amuse in a military style uniform.
The fishermen questioned the monkey and held a beach-based trial. Unfamiliar with what a Frenchman looked like they came to the conclusion that this monkey was a French spy and should be sentenced to death by hanging .
Hopefully the Saudi's won't go that far !!
