But seriously, empathy is not pointless. As you're on the subject of evolution, empathy is one of the few things that sets us apart from most other animals. It is a sign of an evolved being. Use it.

maybe im barbaric, but i have no empathy towards fried chicken. and yes ive seen how they kill them. family worked for cow butchering places( dont want to go into detail). saw dead cows as a child and went home and ate my burger with extra mustard. i have empathy for people not my food. i dont feel bad for all those beans vegans eat and they are alive till cut and processed.

Sir, you have been desensitised. It's nothing to be ashamed about. Just realize that there is a higher level of empathy that can be achieved within the human race.

Bean's are clusters of plant cells with no brain and no CNS. They don't feel it.
