Uhh...devil china already has WMD's what are you talking about they have nuclear missiles and bombs also china happy and sound if china is so happy and sound why do they protest the US selling weapons to Taiwan ill tell you why cuz they don't want a strong Taiwan plus if china never attacks Taiwan that is good no one wants them to attack it.

its the same reason as the cuban missile crisis did america like haveing nukes parked 90 miles off thier coastline? no nethier does china like have american fighters stationed in taiwan.

We don't have fighters in Taiwan we are only going to sell them military arms what they are I don't know the only US fighters in Taiwan are F-16, and its not like the US is giving Taiwan ICBM's then china has every right to be angry. but its not ICBM’s its just military arms.

yeah ameican fighters are not manned by americans but by taiwanese forces.

Tawian will end up being part of China and USA Gov knows this ...which is why they changed to a one china policy.

The worry is not the chinese threat , its the growing threat of american militarism. Alot of people are starting to get very concerned.

well cuba did get migs and other soviet weapons, it wasnt till missle silo's were discovered that we made a big deal about cuba, the situation is not the same, we are providing weapons to taiwan for them to defend their territory we arent in taiwan providing offensive weapons to threaten anyone like the soviets did in cuba.

I don't get people about this "American militarism" crap, America isn't trying to conquer the world, you have to control the areas of the world that are essential to keep your country safe. It is not like the U.S. could isolate itself and then everything would be all tooty-fruity; if the U.S. did that, it would waken its military power, and then the Soviet Union or a new Chinese Union would arise or what not.

The U.S. doesn't tax the world or anything; the U.S. has to have military forces all over so that NO ONE ELSE tries to control the world. Yeah, other countries don't like that, but oh well, that's just how it is. There is no other way. All that stuff about "pleasing other countries" B.S. the only way you could please any of them is to weaken yourself to their current states, which the U.S. won't do right now.

As for China, they drove over their own people with tanks, so who can blame the Taiwanese for wanting to break away?? The U.S. hasn't done anything like that; also, Cuba was a legitimate threat. So the U.S. wanted those weapons removed. Taiwan is a threat to China if it has weapons, but China is a dictatorship country that wants to conquer Taiwan. The U.S. was not some dictatorship nation that wanted to conquer Cuba; they just didn't want Cuba posing as any threat, especially for the Soviet Union at the time.

Also, I don't know if Taiwan will end up back with China, because I don't think the U.S. wants to let China have a "base" in the Southeast Asian area right now; the U.S. doesn't want China to establish any significant naval presence. So who knows.

so when america was offended during the cuban missile crisis did that mean the US should back down? no they blockaded the island, how would you feel if taiwan was blockaded?
