China military eyes preemptive nuclear attack in event of crisis

english.kyodonews.jp

The Chinese military will consider launching a preemptive nuclear strike if the country finds itself faced with a critical situation in a war with another nuclear state, internal documents showed Wednesday.

The newly revealed policy, called ''Lowering the threshold of nuclear threats,'' may contradict China's strategy of no first use of nuclear weapons under any circumstances, and is likely to fan concern in the United States, Japan and other regional powers about Beijing's nuclear capability.

The People's Liberation Army's strategic missile forces, the Second Artillery Corps, '

I am torn when it comes to China. Are they building up for a greater purpose? Or are they just building as any country will over time?

China is catching up with the worlds strongest military's.

Why would you even release such a decision to the world? Who do they have to intimidate? Is this meant to make the US think about every move when it involves China?

I fear that one day red dawn will be played out on American soil, with China as the occupiers.

If the economy keeps the tone it has, China will be far ahead of the US in no time at all.

It could be a notice to North Korea.

If they act up, Beijing may nuke them instead of invading.

Thanks for posting this.
It'll be interesting to read the opinions of our members. I feel that any Nuclear power has this potential. Releasing a declaration of such is just verification of that possibility. China is no better or worse when it comes to the nuclear option. It's just refreshing to read and hear about their policies out in the open.

That concept hardly makes any sense these days. It is pure, useless saber rattling.
Any launch--this includes a vast amount of preparations for a mass launch--will be detected by the intendedd "victim" and that country will be more than ready to respond. It would be a massive passing of East and West ICBMs in flight. Mutual destruction is assured. There is no winner in missile warfare.

But that is yesterday's idea of fighting wars, just as aircraft carriers--dispite what we just did with sending some to the China sea--are setting ducks and will be the first things to go via land-to-ship missile attacks during any major conflict. Warfare will be from space, not just missiles arching through the skies. Where do you think those missing Pentagon trillions went?

How is this ANY different than U.S or Israel or India or Russia's stance???

I'm not really believing this as of yet because I can't find it anywhere else in the MSM, however it seems like it could be true. I wonder if this China/U.S. war is inevitable; it seems like if things keep going the way they're going, we could be in a new Cold War. If things get that way let's just hope it stays cold and no ICBM's start flying!

II can't find a credible source for this yet.

I don't think this is true.

Yeah who is the source here? Who is Kyodo News?

Wikipedia:

Kyodo News (共同通信社 Kyōdō Tsūshinsha) is a nonprofit cooperative news agency based in Minato, Tokyo. It was established in November 1945 and it distributes news to almost all newspapers, and radio and television networks in Japan. The newspapers using its news have about 50 million subscribers. K. K. Kyodo News is Kyodo News' business arm, established in 1972.[1] The subdivision Kyodo News International, founded in 1982, provides over 200 reports to international news media and is located in Rockefeller Center, New York.

Hmm, founded right after World War II - American influence. Based in Rockfeller Center, New York? Elite American influence.

Exactly. It's hardly a deterrent if you say you'll wait until you get hit. MAD has worked for 60 years.

It will be interesting to see if it's verified, however with the unconfirmed pics of their first stealth fighter it could be that the sleeping dragon is starting to put their 'We are the new top-dog world power' meme out there.

BEIJING – Photos leaked online that appear to show a prototype of China's first stealth fighter jet were discussed in state media Wednesday — a move that supports claims the country's military aviation program is advancing faster than expected.

Here's a recent article that seems to back your theory;

The People's Liberation Army officer is quoted as declaring "In the coming five years, our military will push forward preparations for military conflict in every strategic direction. We may be living in peaceful times, but we can never forget war, never send the horses south or put the bayonets and guns away."

It could be they have knowledge that the USA wants to ruin their economy or at least slow it down because they have certainly succeeded in becoming a massive economic power in no time. The USA owes China trillions of dollars also. Everything is outsourced from America, most products in America are made in China. Hell, apple juice from wal mart is even imported from China! Fact.
China is now stronger economically then the US and yet their dollar remaiins low and the us dollar is stable??? Ok, thats another topic, but the point is China is making it clear they have no intention of slowing down and listening to the US government anymore, and they are prepared to take any measures possible if they feel threatened. By anyone.

It's obviously directed against the USA. They're saying "we're going to attack Taiwan, you retaliate against the Chinese mainland with conventional weapons and we'll nuke the continental USA".

Or at least that might be what they're saying. It's difficult to gauge, having only got access to one or two paragraphs on a pay subscription website.

The West are making the exact same mistakes with China as they have throughout History and never learn. China has been building up their Military Force for a number of years now. In defence of their own country and in their pursuit of their future plans for world dominance. WHY because they have an awful lot of people to feed and saw the coming world food shortages far in advance of anyone else. China has struggled for many many years to feed it's own people and if you look behing the major cities which are the faces it shows to the world - you will see how the real chinese people are living in their struggle to survive in a land that can no longer support agriculture for the masses.
China has been buying up huge chunks of land all over the world in order that they can gain control and feed their billions of citizens. This land will be used to feed China first. They sit like a giant spider in the centre of there cleverly made web drawing everyone in until (as is already the case with America - Spain next on the list) they have everyone in their pockets and in huge debt to them. They do not import - they export (ask yourself why?) They encourage big business to invest in their large cities and sting them for all they're worth. History has seen this happen over and over! BUT ALL CAN CHANGE WHEN THEY'RE READY - OVERNIGHT! The West never gets a good deal in Trade with China and any deals they reach are always Temporary.
We will see in the not too distant future - THEY WILL PULL THE PLUG! - This is not a Democratic Country we are dealing with - THEY ARE A COMMUNIST STATE and it is DEEPLY ingrained. BEWARE THE RED DRAGON WITH FORK TONGUE.

How the heck does a third world country get to dominate the world in twenty five years?.In Hindsite the answer is obvious. As far as the millitary goes, the spying and cloning has paid off..But Nukes have been around for a long time now,and I'd bet secret weapon development in the area a WMD's hasnt stood idle.Like the previous post said,Space is the higher ground and thats where anyone with the slimest ideas in tactics heads too.If their was the slightest idea of any hostility coming...Coded signals would point a space based weapon at the heart of the enemy.,and the consequences might, require a leap to another concept in what constitutes as Warfare.
The whole idea of War " is to impose your political will on the enemy".Ie. have an enemy still alive to have your will imposed upon it.......?.....The other option is genocide, where you remove a population, so that another can occpy the land of the disposesed.

so do you still believe that Russia's was going to nuc america?

it would not be in Chinas best interest to start a war.
it would be for america for china to start a war.

Wow, that made no sense whatsoever. Please take your time and construct your sentences properly before leaving feedback.

China is obviously trying to be the big boy on the block....I wonder how the U.S. is going to react to this. I mean, they can't sit quietly by forever can they?
