What I've learned on ATS in 3 years

1. I've learned civility is a good policy...But it is always good to keep an edge.

2. I've learned not to be angry with those who disagree with me.

3. Politics is BS. Policy is where the real discussion takes place.

4. Liberals are just as bad as conservatives, as both have treated me pretty badly the last ten years...

5. People I don't agree with I get along with really, really well and are what gives me hope that society won't just break down...

6. I've learned that government isn't as incapable as I thought...It is even more so.

7. I've learned everyone is at different stages of intellectual development and it is imperative that I respect the position in everyone's life.

8. Mod duties have taught me the meaning of impartiality. You learn a thing or two when you apply the standards set in the T & C to people you agree with.

9. I never thought I would belong to an online community with people I have never met and feel a kinship more so than with people I deal with everyday in real life. I was wrong about that...

10. Three years goes by fast when you're having fun.

Oh I'm here for the long haul.

Something I have learned in the last few days.

Most of the aggression and uncivil behaviour more or less instantly disappears when people are given the chance to interact on a more human level in the chat room.

NB no I don't know what a more "human level" means exactly but I couldn't think of another way of putting it

Intellectual superiority is not what I had in mind when I wrote that.

Just make good posts, everything comes with it...I guess that's lesson number 11 for me.

Though we disagree on a few things, I find myself agreeing with a lot of what you post and tend to think of you as a "nice guy/good mod". You always seem to put your best foot forward.

So thanks for your time and energies here on ATS. It helps.

When I fist came to ATS I learned that we were all going to die when Niburu came. Then I learned that Bigfoot was real. (guts and all) Then I learned that we were all going to die because of Global Warming. Then I learned that we were all going to die because of chemtrails.

What I have learned as a result of all that is that life is too short to panic about thing I cannot control. Beer is pretty damn good, Lots of people here are very intelligent and fun to talk with, and Al Gore is fat. (that one was for mell)

Congratulations on the 3 year mark. You have been one of the good eggs from the start.

well... in 6 years I learned that lots of aliens post here, and world wars are due every single year... but yet somehow, humanity still prevails lol (or the aliens avoid it or something)

but btw... grats on your mod status, doesnt matter our difference of opinions for if we all agreed on everything this wouldnt be a "discussion forum" but somewhere where we post an idea and everyone else would post "I agree" for 140 pages
