I got wrote up today at work because I snapped and was insubordinate to my boss.

I was having a really crappy day and every time he starts to speak it usually starts out the same way.....

"Well, to be honest with you.."

or

Well, Honestly........

or

Ya want me to be honest with you?

Today he started out with the first one and I just snapped and turned and quite loud said
" NO,...... Why don't you just F%$ckin lie to me..... why be honest?"

Why do people say that? Does that mean they usually lie and their letting you know that THIS TIME their being honest.

Huge pet peeve......... It got me in trouble today though.

Well, to be honest with you, thats how office people speak.

God I know what you mean though, I have lost count of the idiotic things people have said in the office before starting on a rant/insult/break down....

we just live in that age, where kid speak rules, where even NOW people say EPIC FAIL in the work place, and god knows what's next.

I do think how you reacted is perfectly justified too, before the 'oh deal with it' folk arrive..

it's a laugh..

Like the warnings on some games that say: "do not make illegal copies of this disk", if the disk didn't have that statement on it, would you be allowed to make illegalcopies?

To be honest with you, I was thinking it was something they would usually maybe not say, but since you asked, or they feel the need to, they will tell you it anyway.

Because for the very fact that he is likely not going to tell the truth.
If you begin a sentence with well...

Excellent article on Lifehacker... It's actually a series of articles that are about human psychology and lying.

How about stupid things your parents used to say...

Mom
"You!! Shut your mouth and eat your dinner!"

Dad
" You cut your foot of with that lawnmower, don't come running to me"

I, as a child was sitting in a chair, in the full sun.

My uncle said to me "You sitting in the sun ?"

I replied " No. I am sitting in a chair!"

they tell me it's true, but my family are all bastards ... lol

Ive heard a lot over the years...

"Going forward"

"Let's touch base"

"We must pre-prepare for the challenges ahead"

"At the end of the day"

"Sprinkle some sugar"

"Thats the way the cookie crumbles"

"Strategic staircase"

"Piggy-back"

I could go on, it just makes the person speaking this jargon look idiotic.

I am always tempted to state to anyone approaching me when they speak this nonsense...

"Stop! Shut up, sit down and listen carefully to what I am about to say!"

"Lets get this thing moving forward, get the team, we will touch base then ill give you a piggy-back all the way down the strategic staircase which will ensure that we are pre prepared for the challenges to come because at the end of the day, thats the way the cookie crumbles and if you don't like it I will honestly ram the cookie so far up your backside your will be sprinkling sugar all over the office for the next month"

Mmmm, maybe thats how you get a promotion these days, speak that much crap that you make eyes glaze over in confusion.

I get this everytime and I jsut look at people.

I have a twin and when I say I have a twin, they say how old is she. Now do people just not think before they speak or is that some programmed question to ask when someone mentions a spouse that they forget that I said TWIN!

A fave of mine is a telling off two friends and i got from our old sergeant major for going out drinking in an out of bounds area in Belfast during the troubles;

CSM: (shouting very loudly) "DID YOU KNOW THAT A PARA (paratrooper) WENT INTO AN OUT OF BOUNDS AREA... WAS SHOT 10 TIMES IN THE HEAD... (even louder) AND NOOOOOWWWW HEEEES DEEEEAAAD??!!!!!"

We looked at each other with the "no sh?t" smiles.

He saw that and turned a deeper shade of purple as he screamed;

"Youuu THREE are a right PAIR"

Thats where we lost it
