The sitcom Couric talked about was about MUSLIMS, not about terrorists. The fact that you made this connection and so many people starred your posts, proves how people think about Muslims. In your mind, Muslims = terrorists and that's the unfortunate ignorance. 'Normal' Muslim Americans don't go around bombing churches and massacring innocents. This is exactly the misinformed rhetoric a sitcom like this would reveal for the bigotry that it is.

This is absurd. 'Hollywood' doesn't think that it is morally superior to the rest of America. At least, that's not what this is saying. Couric is repeating a truism; Americans only learn about the wider world through the TV.

My friend I have tried across several posts to point out that the Saudi -based Wahabi sect of Islam is the major fundamentalist thought leaders in terrorism. We have peacefully coexisted with moslems for generations and even now only a tiny minority of them are enemies of the west.

All to no avail. I a truly fed up of the kneejerk ignorance that some people show here. Why they talk like having ethnic cleansing for ALL moslems is a sign of hatred fuelled by coroscating IGNORANCE.

Arg, they removed my funny post. Oh well. It was in reference to a South Park episode, and I'm really sad that no one else picked up on that. Anywho....

As for a Muslim comedy in America, well, what would they base it on? I don't remember the Cosby show throwing out Christian beliefs at all towards their audience (other than the typical Christmas episode), otherwise it was a normal 80's show that revolved around ethical dilemmas that the family members faced. Other shows such as Family Ties explored similar topics and they didn't explore any particular religion.

Furthermore, I truly think that a show that only about 5% of the American population might watch would be a huge failure, and a waste of time. I can't see a Muslim comedy show doing any good for their 'cause', other than making people realize and remember the issues that we've had as a Nation for the last 30 years with them attacking us in various places around the world for our 'wickedness'.

Sounds like crap. There, don't delete this post, Mods!~

I think this would be a fantastic idea! There's definitely some good material to work with.

1) Daughters get their female circumcisions.
2) Various females get stoned to death for:
a) Getting raped.
b) Shaking hands with a male not in their family.
c) Other transgressions against Allah as prescribed by Sharia law.
3) Dad teaches kids how to be suicide bombers. This could be the Valentine Day episode with all the red.
4) Various homosexual hangings, as prescribed by Sharia law.

And lots of other Islamic storylines. This could be a great learning time for the world!

Ha ha yes this is a very good idea because all Muslims are child abusing murderers!

edit: And rapists! Can't forget that all Muslims love to rape and that this is a relevant and true thing to say!

P.S. You are terrible

Well Moslem comedy would be as bad as Christian Rock - Bloody awful!

I am not a scriptwriter merely a consumer. How about this thought. Try an ordinary middle class moslem family just from Pakistan that are lovable, trying to integrate and be moslems in San francisco. Give them bitter adversaries who are fundies Xtians and moslems. It should be worth a pilot. The moslem aspect should be a distant second to the charactersa as we are not make an aggitationand propaganda piece as that would be too crude. The good moslems are our friends.

We both haver a penchant for badly drawn cartoons that are very leftfield. The Southpark episode with the lesbian schoolteacher was a classic because of the bit where kyle was on his knees in the living room..

If you can predict what would work and what would not work in programming then you really should set up your consultancy and make a mint. You could then employ me to manage your wealth..

Now I'm pretty sure that Cosby was a "Black" Christian, so what she should have said is:
Umerica needs a "White" Muslim family, which is the Opposite.

Just wondering how this would Pan Out:
If they wore Burka's, then they would be mocking their Religion
If they didn't wear Burka's they would be mocking their Religeon
And as most Comedy Writers are Jewish, I can't see Jews doing a Muslin Schtick

Well the Jewish writers managed to make great black and gentile comedy. The majority of moslems do not wear Burkhas. Do you know many moslems? Why has the country allowed themselves to be so programmed? Besides these terrible people were our friends duringthe cold war....

Yet, the issue of violence, intimidation and murder in the name of religion does not even arise when Sikhs, Hindus and Buddhists immigrate to the West.

Are you aware of the views of Sue Myrick, a member of the House of Representatives select committee on intelligence?

US home-grown terrorists 'a global threat', warns congresswoman

"Today there is no doubt that radicalisation is taking place inside America. The strikingly accelerated rate of American Muslims arrested for involvement in terrorist activities since May 2009 makes this fact self-evident.

What has been missed is that our home-grown terrorists are now becoming a global threat."

Mrs Myrick, a Republican, called on the US president to convene a bipartisan meeting on counter-radicalisation at the White House for congressional leaders to discuss the issues.

www.telegraph.co.uk...

Are you aware of the view's of congressman Peter King, the incoming Republican head of the house committee on homeland security?

Peter King alleged that law-enforcement officials around the country had told him they received little co-operation from Muslims.

www.telegraph.co.uk...

Does the fact that moderate Muslims, in terms of informing on extreme Muslims, have given law enforcement agencies little cooperation surprise you?

Still, I'm sure if we exclusively focus on moderate Muslims, as you would prefer, then the Muslims who want to kill us by trying to blow us up the Chicago subway, trying to bomb Dallas Skyscrapers and trying to blow up NY Synagogues will just go away...

Or perhaps not.

Are you aware that as of May 2010, NY had foiled 11 further Islamic terrorist attacks by Muslims since 9/11?

What you don't get smedley is that sitcoms aren't about the ordinary or average, otherwise they wouldn't be funny. And seeing that this is specifically about followers of the Islam faith, or Muslims, by what Katie suggested, then the suggestions I stated above would definitely fit into the idea.

The sitcom could take a look at the lighter side of the following Islamic family dramas...

I have know a couple, but they were the westernised versions.
The burkas are imposed upon by the Males, and it depends how strongly they follow the religeon.
However: (insert picture of Jeremy Clarkson + Top Gear + Burka, and you can see what I mean),
Muslims have no sense of Humor when it comes Burkas.
