North Korea threat grows with new forces - South report

SEOUL (Reuters) - North Korea's immediate threat to South Korea has grown, with 20,000 more special warfare troops deployed near their border along with 200 new tanks, a defence white paper published by the South on Thursday said.

The publication of the biennial report comes as tensions on the divided peninsula are at their highest in decades following North Korea's shelling of a South Korean island in November.

The size of the North's military remained steady from two years ago at 1.19 million troops, the defence ministry paper said, but its "asymmetrical threat" grew with Pyongyang's continued pursuit of weapons of mass destruction.

How does N. Korea purchase anything? there money has to be worth next to nothing. They have no economy for crying out loud. How do they support such a military? Makes no sense.

very comforting to refer this back to the bible.

i really believe the iraq "pull out" and afghan scheduled "pull ou"t are to get our troops ready for the begginning of ww3. I believe they are being brought home to prepare for this massive war that seems to already be planned.

This bodes ill for the peacful solution to their differences....
The big guys seem to be intent on reunifying the two koreas....Perhaps they have plans for these people as a major industrial center and manufacturing hub.
SKorea is already a player in the manufacturing of a great variety of quality equipment and products.
The north is supported by sending its citizens to various hell holes in russia and china to work for the money which is handed to Kim .
They probably have made a great deal of their own war toys as well....much of the economy is dedicated to just such things....
many political prisoners also keep wages low to nil being worked to death in the various "fema "camps kim has built for this purpose.

Why dosen' t the south do some self-reflections? Why do they keep exercising and make US join the gang?

north korea is the number one producer of counterfeit u.s. $100 notes. they say these supernotes are so advanced and flawless that they might as well have been printed in the federal reserve.

there are also reports that they use the exact same printers that the u.s. used to make the old $100 bills.

these notes are indistinguishable from legitimate notes and are mainly used in eastern european countries to buy weapons and pay for imports. there are also some circulating in the united states.

n. korea produces hundreds of millions if not billions of dollars worth of these supernotes.

there are also concerns that if hostilities break out between north and south korea, the north koreans will use these counterfeit notes to flood the u.s. market and destabilize the value of the currency along with faith in paper money.
