Someone tries something for charity, and it isn't good enough for you? What do you want him to do?

That's the point!

It's "For You". It's not for charity's sake!

It's for public image.

I don't want him to do anything. I don't care what celebrities do honestly, free will and all that jazz.

But when it's thrown in my face "See this guy is a really good guy", I just kinda laugh at it.

You are the eighth person to mistake my words for saying

"Ash should give money to people".

I am shocked and disturbed at so many members mistaking what I am saying for something so silly.

Nobody "should or must" give away anything they have earned to anyone.

Please make note of your mistake.

MM

Exactly. No one has to do anything unless they want to.

But trying to buy us off with a little charity seems like a cheap ploy.

I don't trust anyone that uses "See I'm Charitable" as their public image. Call me skeptical.

That's what you think, but there are many people who prove you wrong. As I have said, supporting someone as a politician doesn't mean 100% agreement. I don't even agree with my husband 100% and I have pledged to him.

This thread is just a vehicle to condemn Obama, one of his supporters and Hollywood all in one fell swoop. So, Ashton Kutcher is preparing for Armageddon. So what? So are millions of other Americans AND many Hollywood residents. It should have gone in the Survival forum.

Who cares that Ashton is preparing for SHTF? So are most of us.

Have to agree with BH again! I am a Tea Partier, a Mason, a Conservative, a Conspiracy Theorist, and I love my guns and ammo, have a BOB, and an EDC bag, and I share my survival feelings with those around me,

AND

I voted for Obama!!

I never cared for McCain, but I might have voted for him up until he chose Palin without even meeting her. I won't vote a "leader" that makes his decisions based on campaign suggestions instead of his own experience. I can't vote for Ron Paul because of his association with the loon AJ, and the fact that if Ron Paul can't take his own campaign seriously, then why should I? Those "Reloveution" stickers, and his AJ appearances, and his lack of any real effort rule him out as a candidate.

So, I voted for the one guy that "appeared" to want to make some changes and was gung ho about getting elected and getting to work, which I must admit, he did jump right in and get to work. I am steadfastly against this particular healthcare bill, and the stimulus stuff, but I think he had good intentions and he got run over by the more experienced democrats like Pelosi. I highly doubt I will vote for him again, but if I have the same choices, I will draw the same conclusion. I just hope the Republicans actually put up a real candidate this time.

Here I am saying that Kutcher is smart for preparing and simply wondering why he decided to ... and you say it's a thread to condemn someone because they are an Obama groupie. Yeah .. okay. Kinda looks like your paranoid devotion to all things Obama is showing through.

Who cares that Ashton is preparing for SHTF?

Again .. this is a DISCUSSION board. Kutcher gave a magazine interview and he stated he was preparing for Armageddon, which is a subject that many people on this board like to discuss. Guess you'll have to TOLERATE the fact that others wish to discuss things that you dont want to. If YOU don't care and don't want to talk about it .. leave. Go to a different thread. No one is stopping you. Bu-bye now.

I do not think that was the OP's intent. The OP simply is sharing an interview that was published.

As for vehicles to condemn Hollywood and our current leadership (not just Obama), I don't think we need a thread to be such a thing...they both do a great job of driving themselves towards the cliff of no return without the help of an ATS thread.

Unless you think both are doing a great job?

Sadly I did the same...

Oh well, its not the first time I was tricked into trusting a falsity.

Sorry to hear you're "pleased" with his "work" thus far (health bill aside).

No, I am not pleased at all! I think he was naive, and taken advantage of by the experienced people in his party, and I don't think anything good has happened, but I can't say I regret my vote, because I don't know how bad it could have been with McCain in there. Things could be worse. And at least we get to give someone else a shot in 4 years. That is the real genious of our democracy, nothing c atastrophic can usually happen in just 4 years.

So, I have to say MM has been very clear on his points and everyone's negative responses were ignorant.
Stars all the way through MM.

Next, is the perceived anti gun issue.

Those assuming that Hollywood folk are anti-gun are incorrect. Many of them are not, they just have to hide their true feeling from the freakishly liberalized perception. Look into the Indoctrinate U movie, it explains that to survive in liberal meat grinders, you have to hide your conservative beliefs. That is Hollyweird and our Universities now, the socialists and fascists have taken over these two places.

There is another type mentioned, those that believe the vast unwashed do not deserve guns, this is a large component of the media and government class of folks. Look at that politician that shot an intruder, lifelong purveyor of gun control.

I just wonder, DO YOU THINK HE HAS BEEN WATCHING BECK?

That is FUNNY!

See, at least someone like Beck has the balls to take the heat, someone like Kutcher and the other Hollyweirdos are a bunch of scared losers, wouldn't want to actually want to take a stand.

Mr Mask,

Gee Ashton...if the world collapses under your feet, and millions die unprepared and unaware, will you feel a tad bit guilty that you used your fame and sage presence to do nothing more than grab a few dollars and hoard a couple guns/supplies/bunkers- instead of using your influence to help your fellow humans do the same?

There is a working term under which most of us work..called Contract and Obligation to specific performance...in short ..contract.

I don't give Hollywood much credit for anything in the social arena...social=politics. Hollywood is in the Image business..not necessarily the reality business. Why do you think they call it a reality show verses substance???
And Politics is becoming more and more in the Image business as well..not in the substance business.

I think sufficiently to know that Hollywood is not a good gauge of morality by which to copy or emulate by the American Public or any other public. That Washington DC is up the backside of Hollywood is very telling and also vice versa.

Is all of Hollywood like this ..no it is not. However ...I still stand by what I said....it is Ashton Kutcher's private time and monies. This is distinctively different from his contract and obligation to specific performance.
Thinking peoples know this difference.

I agree with the poster who stated that many in Hollywood have to hide their social and political belief's. It would be prudent to do so by anyone..not just in Hollywood.

Furthermore ...Mr Mask..it is not up to Ashton Kutcher to wise us up past what for many of us is public/television/movie education/beliefs. We are responsible for that. With Politics..both political parties...up the backside of Hollywood and viceversa....it is also up to us to catch on to our leaders/politics as well.

I don't presume to tell Ashton what to do or believe in his private time. I also am not a fan of his nor his woman...nor Hollywood...nor of the body politic.

I believe the less politic we have in our lives the more freedom and liberty we have. I also believe the less Hollywood..we have in our lives the more freedom and liberty we will have. Particularly since I also believe Hollywood and Washington DC are together in bed...and not for the betterment of the public felicity.

Edit to add,

saltheart foamfollower,

There is another type mentioned, those that believe the vast unwashed do not deserve guns, this is a large component of the media and government class of folks. Look at that politician that shot an intruder, lifelong purveyor of gun control.

I have a word for this kind of thinking. The word I use to describe this trend and modus operandi is "Feudalism."
Another royal class not accountable as are the rest of us. With titles and priveleges/rights not granted to most peoples. Feudalism/royalty.

The United States of America was not intended as a feudal royal class in this manner as we are becoming. We are being divided by the body politic..with the help of Hollywood... into different classes for the purpose of control over our liberties by the body politic. By race, by wealth, by sex,..by sexual orientation. All of these for identification and control..ie...whoredom by the body politic to keep and maintain power over us..while they conduct their affairs in a different light and manner....ie...Royalty/Feudalism.

This is an anathema to thinking Americans.

Thanks,
Orangetom.

I agree..you like watching movies. But it is not rational to blame someone else for something you saw in a movie and bought into the idea because it is emotionally satisfying. This world is not here to hold our hands through lifes difficulties. Movies and television may make you/us feel good for a time but it is often not reality or what we face in the world in which we dwell. You are responsible for yourself ..not Ashton Kutcher or anyone else.
Blaming it on Ashton or anyone else tells me that you are not in reality and think that you deserve the best morsels off the table for the price of a movie ticket. or ticket to the soccer game.

I dont watch sports nor the products advertised...these are not my models or idols to worship ..nor the products advertised. Nor do I like what we here in the states call sitcoms....or even reality shows. I say this not because I am better or more deserving than others..but because I know what these things are along with their sponsors.

I try very hard not to describe some moral or ethical concept ..among peoples I meet in terms of some movie or television program I have watched some time in the past. I see this alot here on ATS and among the peoples I know. They cannot express a moral or ethical concept outside of some movie they have watched..or television program. Their thoughts are not their own..their emotions are not their own..et al. They are on a string and dont know it.

Hollywood is a very poor example of leadeship. People should know this instinctively. Hollywood is on the political string of someone out here..someone not seen or known. You should know this as well.

Thanks to all for their posts,
Orangetom

Shouldn't this be on the 2012 section?

To be brutally honest, if i had his cash, and his pull to do what i wanted i would have a total lair/compound somewhere that scientist and engineers said would be the best. I would totally have a lot of places, and rooms. Why not, what's he going to spend his money on anyway
