You are confining your understanding to the now and not the entirety of mankind. While individuals may comprehend the aspects of liberty, Man, as a
whole, fails continually to achieve the status of true Liberty.
With our current scientific understanding on the history of man (50-200k years) self determination has lead to sustainable communities as demonstrated
with indigenous cultures and their relationship to the land. It is the natural state of man for this self determination to be respected amongst the
needs of the community.
My argument lies with the fact that Man as a whole has not the capacity to enjoy Liberty for they always need to have a controlling mechanism above
them.
Self determination is the controlling mechanism, wither it comes from the individual or an external authority this is where it all starts. Life is not
always about enjoyment, it is about needs. We need to eat, we need social engagement, 'Maslow's hierarchy of needs' provides a good relationship
between the importance of our needs. Enjoyment is important, it will not kill us if we do not have it but it does make the journey through life a lot
easier to bare.
I must once more point out that once Man becomes engaged in the law, it no longer is pure.
The law is about resolving conflict and it is a messy job at times. It is based on what the community determines are the social norms and how to
address the stupid things we all sometimes do. The brain is a dynamic, organic machine that learns through trial and error. The law is a vital
component to a sustainable community and is pure in that regards. What the law has become as the corporate culture is determining the culture of the
population is not pure.
