Verily, forsooth, hearken unto me, ye olde etc.

My wrath shall be felt when snow falls in winter! Repent ye sinners, for snow in winter is a sure sign that my wrath has come upon the debunkers! Snow! In winter! Fear me, earthlings!

Look, the real reason I started this thread, is because obviously I find some of the predictions in this forum to be hilarious. I've also noticed that some people fall for every single one of them. So, with that in mind, I was asking myself what a truly quality prediction thread would be like. And whereas I'm certain of what it wouldn't contain (snow in winter for one), I'm not sure what it would contain.

So, I guess I'm asking you guys, who read this forum like me, and are perhaps as fed up as me, what would a good prediction thread actually contain?

Yeah, of course they can, and that's fine.
I'm just wondering out loud what a good, meaty prediction thread would contain?
Calculations?
Sources?
I just don't know any more.

Nothing but quantative data...either you can show how it would come true by offering verified numbers, or it's subjective.

Or, you happen to have a video of the prediction coming true, but that will only create tsunami of more questions...

Great answer, and I agree.
I would love to see a thread like that.

A reasonable prediction thread would be one which predicted a fairly specific, unforeseeable event, within a reasonable time frame.

Of course these kinds of predictions rarely happen and, when they do, they are often the result of a person who simply spams out "prophecies" and eventually gets a law of averages based "win".

If this thread is a reaction to ATS's many resident messiahs, prophets, and 'angelic beings"... well... My advice, buckle up, break out a LOT of salt (and sedatives) and learn to laugh - because I predict that the trend of them showing up here is NOT going to stop.

Well one of the things that a lot of the predictors seem to forget is that a prediction has to be made BEFORE the event happens.

So many of them are made from fitting old data to an event that has already happened and then saying "see it was predicted by this"

A useful prediction
"Between the 14th of Jan 2011 and the 16th Jan 2011 there will be a magnitude 9 Earthquake in San Francisco"

A non useful prediction
"A great nation divided will burn, fire reigns from the sky, a great leader will fall"

Well, at least you gave specific dates!
OK, nothing happened, but at least you tried.

I was told once when the end time would begin, with the date.
Now, this is not the end of the world.
It is the beginning of the end time, with no specific as to how long the end time would be.
I did write it down but you know, I can't remember what I did with that note. I'm sure it must be around here somewhere.
Oh, never mind, and it may not matter anyway since it was like fifteen years ago.
The only significant thing I could find in the news on that day was the Brigham Young University football team was voted to be number one. Does that mean the Mormons are right? Can't find out. The missionaries have black listed my house and freaked out when I asked them about it. I finally got a former Mormon on the jrandi forum to answer my question and he said there is no coherent eschatology in the church and just a mishmash of different ideas. Nothing like a specific timeline or specific sequence of events. The angel who told me about the end time did say it would be the angel Moroni who would call it into being by giving a blast on his trumpet. So very odd and I have no idea what that means and no way to find out.
You(the OP) may have some advice so, there you go and this is not a joke or anything, I don't do things like that and am serious. I did have the people I once worked for try to have me committed or something because I mentioned it at work. I had four armed guards escort me off the property and said I would be arrested if I ever came near the place. Wow, that was devastating, to say the least.

That's very interesting.
You don't remember what the date was?
Or the name of the angel who told you?

There is so much about the Mormon religion that fascinates me.
Not least of which is their use of mirrors.

I had a discussion at work(a different one from my earlier story), with a friend of my co-worker who was a big college football buff and we got it narrowed down to what the likely date was. I for some reason don't have that recorded. Obviously that would have been the smart thing to do. You know, sometimes you just think you will remember certain things but ten years goes by without thinking about it and then it's gone. A while back I tried to do it on Wikipedia but it was rather confusing so I ended up giving up because it could have been one of three different years. But the remarkable thing was that there was a connection I never would have guessed ahead of time. You know it just happens and you think, there is something really going on here and it is no coincidence, like a funny little confirmation.
The important thing would be that I think it was about a month and a half between this voice of someone in my room telling me this and the actual date, so it was not like years that I had to wait for it. But that is what it was it was a woman's voice, very clear and loud coming from inside the room as if it was standing right in front of the door.
Maybe another coincidence is that years later I did see an angel right at that exact same spot, well more like I was standing in the same spot where someone would have been in the earlier scene. So I saw an angel but it was not like full-sized, it was miniature and between the shelves of a book case about eye level but when I looked, it like expanded to where my whole view was this person talking to me.
sorry for saying, like, but it is weird and hard to describe, I know I can't exactly
