Wikileaks cables reveal that the US wrote Spain's proposed copyright law

It's well-known in some circles that the US leans on other governments to tow their corporate line - often directly threatening that nation's sovereignty. One more example:

115 of the Wikileaks cables intercepted from the US embassy in Madrid were tagged with "KIPR" -- that is, relating to "intellectual property," ...

The first 35 of the 115 cables have been released, and they confirm the widespread suspicion: the Spanish government and the opposition party were led around by the nose by the US representatives who are the real legislative authority in Spain.

So here's the new question: when the Spanish Congress votes on America's copyright law this month, will they vote for their sovereignty, or act like a US puppet state?

This makes you question how powerful is the U.S. and does the borders of the U.S. expand beyond what people officially believe? If the U.S. is "doomed' to collapse like people say it will then that will be the loudest collapse ever.

I don't think the US is really that powerful - else the current US government wouldn't be stomping all over the Constitution to keep its corporate partners happy.

It's the global corporations calling the shots here. No doubt about it.
