Good. There should be no hate laws denying two consenting adults the opportunity to form the same partnerships as anybody else. What, personal liberty? I hope it won't. Anybody with a clear head and a healthy body, who does not victimize others, is just as capable as anybody else to serve in the military.

As much as I support my friends living the way they want to live, as I do with anyone, I think DADT was the perfect solution that upheld the military standard....gays are not the only group of people that the military keeps out, however, they are the only group they allowed in under certain conditions.

Please enlighten us as to which other groups they keep out, besides criminals.

The very lifestyle of conforming to regulations with uniforms, hairstyles, etiquette, customs, and even off-duty behavior and dress says that anyone who identifies too much with what makes them different should NOT be considered a proper candidate for the military, REGARDLESS of their sexual preferences.

I'm sure you've seen the many officers that were discharged for 'telling'. They weren't dressing in drag and calling everybody "girlfriend". You would have never known they were gay. I would argue that the more feminine in the gay community will likely have no desire to join the armed forces in a combat role. They discharged good soldiers, with good records who had never made passes at other soldiers in the showers, simply because they let slip their preference. It's ridiculous, in these times we need all the good help we can get.

BS. Ignorant. They, understandably, don't want their careers to be hanging by a thread all their lives. Should anybody ever find out "how they like their sex", they can lose everything they've worked so hard for. Gays are people like anybody else, they aren't "up in yo face" anymore than anybody else. A gay soldier in a unit of straight soldiers probably isn't going to be trying to make everybody uncomfortable around him. He's going to want them to look out for him too, so I'm sure they won't be any more open they are now, but in the event it somehow gets out, they won't lose everything.

They aren't at risk of losing their careers over those things.

if the officer doesn't want to follow orders he can resign from his commission. the military is a professional organization- not an exclusive club.
