Right now there is another thread about a similar event in Australia.

It seems as though a local business owner says it was one of his spotlights. Could it be disinformation or just a spotlight viewing...The news report reminds me of the radio host from the Truman Show...

Rockets have been launched for years. Why only in the past year are there spirals. Never heard them mentioned before? Some explanations may not be so black and white as you suggest.

The other one was a contrail... Watch a few more and you will be able to tell the difference
