From the Pentagon to the private sector

www.boston.com

From 2004 through 2008, 80 percent of retiring three- and four-star officers went to work as consultants or defense executives

And in many cases there is nothing subtle about what the generals have to sell — Martin’s firm is called The Four Star Group, for example. The revolving-door culture of Capitol Hill — where former lawmakers and staffers commonly market their insider knowledge to lobbying firms — is now pervasive at the senior rungs of the military leadership.

I suggest everyone read the article in it's entirety, it's pretty crazy.

It's the militarization of the economy if you really think about how everything is funded, YOU.

Retired Generals that greatly influence arms purchases while those same generals work for the private sector giving unparalleled influence over purchasing decisions

Also former congressmen and senators giving inside knowledge to lobbying firms is very much treason is it not?
Especially since there are now many foreign lobbyists.

This is something that deserves some serious spotlight, please spread the word and discuss.

Yeah it's no surprise we're always at war in the US.

I wonder if this topic will still be here when I hit the reply button =.=

It has been this way since at least the 60's. This is certainly nothing new. It's not only the retired generals either, as it's any officer in acquisitions or other parts of the Pentagon, who are in positions to scratch the backs of the defense contractors. In fact, the Pentagon has become so politicized for this very reason, it completely compromises the effectiveness of our defense capabilities. It's absolutely disgusting.

Exactly. Nothing new here; retired senior officers getting jobs in the defense industry, etc, has been going on for quite a while. It's always interesting when, sooner or later, a few get caught doing something crooked.

Good catch. Thanks.

...I agree, it might be considered treason. ....Any other laws that could be used to block this ...insider profiteering?
