Man when I read this poll I just knew that it was gonna start somthing like this.

I think the main reason 40 % of teens think the USA is evil is because the Parents who raised them think much the same. You'll probably find that the other 60 % just 'dislike' the US right now, but let me tell you there are alot of Socialists in this country, heck the Socialist party(NDP) Got like 17% of the vote. But the point is Canada isn't a socialist country and never will be. Even though thier sentiment is predominantly 'anti-american'.

The bottom line is the Poor hate the US. The Middle Class is pretty split but mostly dislikes the US. The Rich LOOOOVE the US since most of the Rich are mostly conservative. I think you'll find the same is true thruout the world. BTW I do not think the USA is evil. I just think the current Administration is just plain incompetant and greedy.

And that comment that Canada cant beat the US in hockey....You beat us once...at a crappy world cup....during a shootout if memory serves me....63 % of NHL players are canadian. The only 'real' competetion Canada ever faced was the USSR and the Check Republic.

Not all of us do. Ever hear of Humboldt county? Well that is here in California and arguably the best in the World. I have had your crappy outdoor grown BC schwag, and let me tell you, it doesn't even come close.

It's not where it's grown its what is grown (strains (plant))

I honestly don't know anyone that smokes outdoor. It's all tables and/or pots with the killer strains.

But anyway, this isn't Mary Jane 101

Actually they do, BC Big bud, Purple Haze among many other of the best strains. The rest of the killer stains comes from Europe. Ask anyone about the US buds, and they'll laugh

Canada is by far the greatest country this world has ever seen, hands down. Take the best of all the other countries in the world and put them together, you get Canada.

I'm amazed the mod's left this alone as long as they did. All you have to do to put an end to this debate is check out the Canabis Cup.

How dare we post a couple sentances about a topic that spawned from the original post.

Besides, we were done with that a while ago.

Yeah, if you leave Quebec out of the equation.

Why do you say that?

I live in Montreal, I am a franco-Ontarian and would argue that Quebec is the primary reason Canada is so different.

BC is a lot like your west coast, Alberta is Canada's Texas, the plains are similar to your mid-west, Ontario (especially "tcharanna" )TO) a bunch of republican wanna b's, the maritimes much like new england, but Quebec is a distinct European feel and is responsible for Canada's dual lingustic and multicultural nature.

Come on Gools, you know what I am talking about. Ask any other Canadian, that is npt from Quebec, how they feel about Quebec. You know with Quebec threatenting to secede from the rest of Canada. You remeber Eric Lindross, right? Well when he played for the Oshawa Generals and was drafted by the Nordiques, he refused to play for them, probably the same reason why most of Canada hates Quebec. You talk about Americans having a holier than thou attitude, well I can argue that people from Quebec have the same attitude about the rest of Canada. With the exception of you and any other intelligent Habs.

Yes I do. The Nationalist movement in Quebec. The seperatists.

Being a french Canadian from outside Quebec (i.e. a minority), I have waivered back and forth on that question many times over the years. Explanations would take too much time.

What you and I'm sorry to admit a majority of ignorant Canadian need to know though is that the nationalist movement in Quebec only represents about 25-30% of hard core. The rest of Quebec is just looking for respect as are many minorities on this little bioshpere.

I do beleive that the nationalist movement has had both negative and positive influences on Canadian society. But the people who do not understand it are the same ones so concerned about it and blowing it all out of proportion. If the Nationalist movement was understood by other provincial governments this country would be a true federation.

Believe it or not, I am not some ignorant American, I actually know what is going on with Canada. Even if it is a minority, ie 25-30%, it is still a signifigant amount. I have talked to other Canadians, and they have expressed a dislike for people from Quebec.

Granted, they may be ignorant to the fatcs, but the perception is still the same. I could say the same of your percetion that Americans have a holier than thou attitude. That is simply not true. Maybe the ignorant Americans you have talked to, but certainly not a majority of Americans have a holier than thou attitude. I am just relaying what fellow countrymen have said about Quebec. I did live in Canada for about 5 years

Were all asking ourselves that one aren't we?

I like hockey. Not a fanatic though. I don't follow all of the players, trades and stats and trivia. I mostly cheer for my childhood idols the Habs and watch every game I can of the Playoffs starting with the first round. Over eighty regular season games for each team is just too much. I like the quality of playoff and olympic hockey, but not the "business" or "industry" end of the game (ticket prices, inflated salaries, owners profits etc).
