He mentioned 1970's? Now I was born in the 80's, but... I'm quite sure child porn was not accepted in the 1970's by any means. I've already taken the
liberty of asking many people who were born in the 50's, and they said it wasn't even considered "normal" in their own childhood so... what exactly is
he talking about?
The only time pedo-behavior was considered "normal" was probably back in medieval times when brides were sometimes 16 or younger, but that was about
it. And this was usually because the family had chosen through tradition to choose the daughter or son's significant other at an even younger age,
considering the relationship, a bonding of the families.
Edit: I'd also like to mention the middle-eastern cultures sometimes still do this. I've read about it in numerous articles, some brides as young as
12. It is still however arranged with an agreement that the groom, usually much older, may not consemate the marriage until the bride is much older,
due to reasons of health.
I don't think the current pope was alive in medieval times, although he is quite old, I cannot imagine where or when this was "normal" in his
lifetime... perhaps he himself was a victim of sexual child abuse, thus the conformity is somehow "common" in his mind? Just a thought. I mean no
