Used to love it when he'd get caught talking to his gun...hehe...

His Partner: "Hammer, you can't beat that guy up, it's Police brutality!"
*Hammer points the gun at the perp*...."Punch yourself!"
His Partner: "Hammer!"
Hammer: "What?"

Hammer: "All right, that was nice..... now slug yourself in the stomach!"

Hammer: " All right, look, I'm running out of time.... just finish yourself off!"

Brilliant, Just brilliant

Maybe it's just because I grew up during them, but for me, the 80's were the golden years of television. Many new directions were tried, and many failed, but I enjoyed watching them...

Some of my favorites:

The "Babe of the Week" shows, as I call them. Our hero (or heroes) rescue some damsel in distress and get the bad guys at the end.

Magnum P.I.
Airwolf
Knight Rider
A Team
BJ and the Bear
Dukes of Hazzard
(main stream ones)

Then the more "out there" ones.....
Automan
Streethawk
Manimal

Of course there were classic sitcoms during this decade, but I really loved the sci-fi shows, again, kind of obscure....
Mr. Merlin
Powers of Matthew Starr
Otherworld
Phoenix

There's lots of others, that are just so numerous to mention.
What were some of your favorites in the 80's?

FINALLY.
Someone who remembers Otherworld.
And Automan with Desi Arnez Jr.

Those were two of my favorites, although they werent on for that long. Less than a season, if I remember correctly.

Can anyone enlighten me on a few american sci-fi TV shows that i remember watching in the mid to late 80's that i remember but cant put my finger on what they were called:

1) show where a family were zapped into another dimention and persued by TPTB of that world
2) some electrical super hero that had a car that could turn 90 degrees at a whim and travel through electrical sockets
3) comedy show with a black genie who would grant wishes of a white guy's whims.

all three were broadcast on saturday daytime in the UK in the 80's around a similar time but i can't remember the names of any of them.

I thought seinfeld started early 90s?

If so, id put that down.

However being very young from what ive seen on re runs I did like family ties (again was that 90s or late 80s?)

this thread brings up a classic debate: airwolf vs. blue thunder.

you also can't dismiss miami vice.

every other episode had a huge pile of coc aine.

and you can count on hot 80's babes in bikinis and sonny crockett busting out a nickel plated .45 auto in cheesy shoot out scenes.

I was a kid in the 80's. So most of my favorites when they originally aired were cartoons.

GI Joe
Bionic Six
Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers
Scooby Doo and Scrappy Doo
Alvin and The Chipmunks
Captain N The Game Master
Denver The Last Dinosaur
Garfield and Friends
The Adventures of Winnie The Pooh
Silver Hawks
Smurfs
Duck Tales (I use to rush home to watch this with my dad while he was recovering from back surgery.)
and
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

I still loved all of the Looney Tunes and Tom & Jerry stuff that was running at the time. I was also a big fan of the Jetson's reruns.

I was a big fan of "You Can't Do That On Television." Most of the 80s were spent without cable though. So I rarely got a chance to watch it.

I liked Night Court, Cheers, Growing Pains, The A-Team, Newhart, Who's The Boss, Amen, The Wonder Years, Empty Nest, Murphy Brown, Head of The Class, Major Dad, and some other sit coms. The best live action kids shows on regular tv were 3-2-1 Contact, Square One tv, and Saved by The Bell.

I wasn't really in to the dramas. I was just to young to really understand them. My dad liked to watch Simon and Simon, The Equalizer, Emergency 911, In The Heat of The Night, America's Most Wanted, Jake and The Fat Man, China Beach, Austin City Limits, Hee Haw, Spenser for Hire and Midnight Caller.

Actually there was one drama I loved to watch. Any time I got a chance I would watch Quantum Leap. I just thought it was the coolest concept ever imagined.

Although both of these shows saw most of their success in the 90s I'm gonna have to go with Red Dwarf and Mystery Science Theater 3000.

The Seinfeld Chronicles started in 1989. Same show, different name but that first season was a riot.
