CIA launches task force to assess impact of U.S. cables' exposure by WikiLeaks

Officially, the panel is called the WikiLeaks Task Force. But at CIA headquarters, it's mainly known by its all-too-apt acronym: W.T.F.

Not sure if i should laugh or cry, the acronym used W.T.F. did make me laugh to the point of almost spilling my coffee when i began reading through the various links.

Now the problem is, everyone knows that the documents that were leaked were sensitive but in to way were they considered national security documents.

my biggest question is:

Why the CIA ???

Since the CIA is NOT suppose to
do ops on American soil. Wouldn't part of
op results be found on American Soil???

well that made me smile thanks for the laugh.. since the acronym sums up my feelings about this whole affair.

Am deeply interested in how this will play out since I feel my Gov is playing a long game with this one.. far to many co-incidences for my tin foil mind to ignore.

You really believe the above But as for a task force being set up for wikileaks i think it was done the day they started releasing them if not sooner

Theoretically its not supposed to, but hey we are talking about the cia..

In embassies perhaps, but the aim of the operation is to assess how (if at all) the release of the classified cables has/will affect foreign relations and current/future US operations overseas, and how the cables have been received by foreign diplomats, politicians and other significant figures. The CIA is in the best position to carry out such an operation.

Norwegian newspaper Aftenposten claims to have been leaked all 251,287 cables..

One comment said that now WTF will have to split into lots of little F's to track the leaks.

I dont think so, although i could be wrong. The original task force supposedly remains the same and the addons are being divided. Then again, i am only assuming.

No real surprise here...
Definitely not the first time for the US to do some sort of investigation or keep tabs
