Agreed - the kids add at least an hour onto the trip.

nanna:

Are you sure your talking about John Edwards/John Kerry ? If you've gone to Law-School, you would know that you are trained to get to the "TRUTH", and if you are a "GOOD" lawyer there is no need for under-handedness.

I don't share your respect for trial lawyers. Edwards is worth $152M as a trial laywer. Many of them are known as ambulance chasers, who get 1/3 of any monetary awards, so you're talking close to half a billion. They are one of the reasons for the high costs of health care, airline tickets, auto insurance, and more.

As for "if you are a "GOOD" lawyer there is no need for under-handedness", the measure of a "Good" lawyer is one who wins. Look at the defense lawyer for Kobe Bryant - Pamela Mackey. Look at her tactics so far in the case against Bryant, including stating the victim's name in the courtroom numerous times in defiance of rape shield laws, and convincing the court to remove the label of victim from the young lady who was raped.

This is not Perry Mason, nanna. This is real life.

I'm on the anybody but Bush ticket, but doesn't Edwards remind anyone of Dan Quayle? I guess the difference is that Edwards has mojo!

Oh great. I look forward to the next 4 years ruled by some one voted in because of his mojo.

This speaks volumes of the Democratic voter.

Great! Now John Edwards can help Kerry run and help him talk to his dead grandmother at the same time. Oh.... Ooops, wrong Edwards LOL jk

Although this helps Kerry with his campaign greatly, I still think it's going to be difficult for him.

You have to admit, it's better some one voted in because of a terror that he created.

I think Kerry picked the only person he could. He had to have someone to balance him out. Although Edwards himself is pretty liberal he is alot of things Kerry is NOT! Like charismatic!! I think he made a very good choice. I mean even though people vote for the Pres and not the Veep...who is better? Cheney who swears like a sailor or Edwards who comes off like a choirboy?

If it's a choice between a sailor and a choirboy, well, we've all dropped the F* bomb at least once.

Well I believe Edwards will win votes for Kerry and may tip the balance in his favor. However I am unhappy where both Democrats and Republicans stand on certain issues. Kerry is not for the death penalty but at the same time favors abortion. Terrorists get to live in this scenario while millions of unborn innocent Americans die. He is also not for any missle defense. I think we should have at least some defense to stop North Korean missles rather than hope someone doesn't get too angry at us. Money spent on defense is good insurance. The best insurance is something you never have to use. Edwards is also against missle defense. Kerry seems smart enough to pick Edwards to get additional votes. I just wonder why they don't want some insurance against what a few think might be unthinkable. Did anyone think 9-11 would really happen? Kerry also talks about eliminating tax cuts for the rich but I thought the alternative minimum tax (AMT) was already going to do that.
If the AMT is already going to eliminate those tax cuts, I guess Kerry is just giving a good speech that people want to hear.

No, actually, I have to admit you now have two strikes against you. The left is really scary.

If Republicans keep Cheney - they lose. Imagine not knowing Cheney was the VP of our country and meeting or hearing him for the first time. I would ask who is this guy? He always sounds so demeaning and gruff.

If Republicans get rid of Cheney in favor of McCain - they lose. McCain loses my respect for sure - after all the Bush admin did a nice job on him in 2000 -The fact he would step up after being dishonored - wow. Not only that, but changing VPs midstream shows a loss of faith - and means that what we've said all along is true regarding Cheney.

I'm having a bumpersticker sale.
This is what I came up with:

"Two Johns don't make a right"

"Lurch n smurf"

"Pimp the people, vote for the Johns"

"Elite n Petite"

Anyone like to add more?

jsobecky, have you ever gone to law college or paralegal college ? How much do you really know about studies in law and what makes a good lawyer? Your right this is not "Perry Mason" ( make beleive life). The fact of the matter is, there are "good" lawyers and "bad" lawyers and Kerry and Edwards happens to be two of the good lawyers among others. There are many branches in the profession, corporate lawyers, family lawyers, defence lawyers, etc.

Edwards is a decent lawyer that makes a good living at his profession, which he had to work hard to get to where is .
There is a lot of studying that goes into becoming a lawyer in law college, four long years of college is not fun and the man did it , without a "silver spoon " handed to him, it's not easy getting to where John Edwards is and doing it on his own.

Resident Bush on the other hand, has been handed everything "silver spoon", hell I wouldn't have put it pass his family to have bought his way through college, a 2.0 grade average in college ,........ is nothing, and it sure doesn't get you any kind of a degree.

Sounds to me as if you've found Toby B guilty before the trial is even over. It would not surprise me in the least if the girl is screaming "rape", just so she can get paid,....... it's all about the money. The judge can put a sock in Toby's lawyers mouth if he/she feels the lawyer is in the wrong, that's the judges call, and Mr. B.'s lawyer is doing what ever it takes to get her client off, within the limits of the law.
you can't blame the lawyer if the judge allows it.

Bush has destroyed the reputation of America, if he remains in the white house he will completely destroy the foundation and everything that the USA stands for that our founding fathers built.
I for one am not willing to stand by and watch it happen. It is time for a change in the white house , Kerry and Edwards will make the changes needed to safeguard America, not destroy it.

Anyone has GOT to be BETTER than Bush & Co.

What makes you think Kerry is for abortion ? He is for women's rights and human rights. Just because he beleives in women's rights doesn't mean he agrees with abortion.

If Bush was so much against abortion, why didn't he change that law during his four years in office
, hello,..... there's no excuse for his not getting busy and change that law on abortion, after all, Bush bullies people around in washington when he wants his way any other time.

The only way Bush will remain in office is by cheating/stealing votes like he did last election.

Yes, Edwards is pro-choice. Shouldn't surprise anyone.

In fact, the Bush machine is already describing Edwards as the 4th most liberal Senator in America.

Which just tells me we need much more liberal Senators.

Yes, I am familiar with the legal education system; I'm putting my daughter through law school.

There is theory and there is practice. You menioned that I think Kobe Byant is guilty. As a matter of fact, yes I do think he's guilty. Will he be convicted? Probably not. Same goes for Scott Peterson, Same went for OJ Simpson.

You're probably involved with the legal system in some way, thus your rose colored glasses view of trial lawyers. That's OK.

Back to Kerry/Edwards:
So, let me get this straight:

1. Kerry is Pro-choice
2. Kerry is for partial-birth-abortion
3. Kerry said this weekend that he believes life begins at conception
4. Kerry is against the death penalty, except in cases of terrorism

It seems that (4) is inconsistent with (1 - 3)

?Truth-hunter,
Please explain to the rest of us; just how your proposed one party system would be better than what we now have. Sounds like National Socialism to me. Get a clue!

I can't say that I'm exactly happy with GWB, but the addition of Edwards to the Kerry ticket means that I have to get out and vote.

For Bush.

We'd be in deep trouble if these guys win.

To me, the known evil is easier to deal with than the unknown evil.

And Bush/Cheney and Kerry/Edwards are two pair of evil.

We really need to get the politicians out of politics before they screw it up irrevocably.
