Nemrut (Turkish: Nemrut Dağı, Armenian: Սարակն Sarakn, "Mountain spring", Armenian pronunciation: [sɑɾɑkn], Kurdish: Çiyayê Nemrud) is a dormant volcano in Eastern Turkey, close to Lake Van, at 38°37′10″N 42°14′28″E

. The volcano is named after King Nimrod who is said to have ruled this area in about 2100 BC.

Well spotted. Oh excrement. That is all they need, a dormant volcano coming to life. Proves TAs point.

All I can find is this

How reliable is EDIS? Mmm
edit on 24/10/2011 by PuterMan because: (no reason given)

ETA: OK you can stand down Folks. RSOE EDIS is just repeating the information I linked above and making it sound as if there is activity.

I knew there was more than one reason why the site is totally unreliable as a credible source of information.

I think it's BS.

Has seismicity or gas emissions increased? Has there been a measured inflation or ground deformation? That volcano has been dormant, and why that one when there are a whole bunch of other volcanoes in Turkey?

en.wikipedia.org...

Sounds like needless fearmongering to me, unless they can provide some data to back that up.

My thread on triggering not withstanding, still, they got to have data. And so far as I can see, there is none yet to lend any credence whatsoever to that volcano awakening from dormancy because of the quake.

Why bother? You have to have a browser open, which I very often do not.

My program pops up a screen whether you have a browser open or not. ETA: And sounds a klaxon for Mag 6+ or however you set it.

Not to mention that the program sources from the USGS rss feed, which we beat routinely by running GEE. Or in the case of Japan, no one or nothing touches the JMA for speed. Those dudes are on it. FAST. Quakes published faster than they appear on my GEE screen sometimes. Other times, the wave hasn't even finished appearing in GEE, and it's already on their site. They can't be beat unless you parked it on the bottom of the ocean and waited.

Ya. Did I tell you I now have JMO quakes coming in automatically? Took a long time to sort out as you have to read the list then read each individual page for more info and then try and work out the number of reporting stations. Took about 6 months to get it right but it seems to be running OK now.

When the program loads the data jobs are not turned on, or the service started in earlier versions. Either way you have to start the service which is not done because it would impact dial up users by downloading every 5 minutes.

I will improve the help later. It is not very clear I agree.

Make sure you have the latest version and the then start the data service in the Data Centre program.

Beta E is the latest. See help/about to find out which version.

When you say failed to start did it give an error? If it did can you access the QVS Events Log in event viewer and upload it here? qvsupload.4shared.com...

(Start > Run > eventvwr.msc /s ) Open QVS Events log. Action > Export > ......

BTW: System? I use XP so useful to know if you are not although I know it has been run on W7

All versions are 1.0.48.0 until it is out of beta. There should be a big banner across the screen.

Yours should say E. That is from the development version.

Thought: In Vista are you logged in as Administrator? I don't think you can install services unless you are.

I am so tech illiterate, I can't get GEE to pop up either...
