I'm not sure about these two sixes GUC are showing, I think they have duplicated them, its just one quake. What had me confused was the different depths. Note these maps only show the 2nd 6

too bad I didn't catch the first 6 mag quake at 5:05pm local time, because that 5.3 (and the white icons on the aftershock map) must have been aftershocks of that one

The Chileans have downgraded the 2nd 6 to 5.9, and yes there was only one quake at 12/02/2011 01:17:00 local time

Once again , sorry for the late reply. The melting in wich you are referring to is because of a storm that hit the country. Was a "tropical" storm with rain, that´s most likely why it melted a bit and since then the tempature has gone down again.

There are 691 earthquakes on this map.

From 8-21-2010 to present.

Probably is when they started, but basically there is not a huge anount before August 2010.

Yes that is a good page. Goes back to 2001. I have started collecting all of the data into my database. Only got about a year (2001) so far as it is very time consuming having to do 1 day at a time!

That link is in my earthquakes list by the way if anyone loses it. - Mm just looked at my entry and it says goes back to 2000. I think they must only keep 10 years in the list. I have better get cracking with the copying!

Just checked by database: 6 months only

You may have a good point here. Back in 1906 the Valparaiso Earthquake was forecast on the same basis, and don't forget this was the year of San Francisco.

Good find, I'll save that for the World 7's project, haven't got that far back yet, still bogged down revising with Centennial List.

I've never tried this before and it was a bit of a surprise what happened, used Google Translate for that page (into English) and thought I would copy and paste the text and save to Notepad, when I did it was back into Spanish

Chile has always interested me, it must be the risk of Tsunami from there, although I don't remember the 1960 one, we were living in New Plymouth on the west coast of the North Island back then, and I was only 6 years old

Seeing as I went to the trouble of creating a map/kml request form on GPS Visualiser to do that post yesterday, I've created a Chile Last 7 Days page.
I'll try to keep it up to date.

Interesting that there is nothing happenning down the south end of the country, I wonder if that is due to nothing happening or they don't cover that area

Yes annoying when you paste something and find it is still in the original language but actually if you look at it you will find you have both. Each sentence seems to have both versions.
