the web page were the theory was is gone... it affected me couse it was very plausible..

oure magnetic field is generated in the friction of the inner core with its next layer...360 degrees turn in 26.800 years of the inner core...
remarkeble is that at an half /quarter /and eight of the cycle big events happend at geo levels...
so it has an point... (atlantis 13.000 years ago (half) / thera 3500(1/8 )
considering that at 2012 an new cycle begins...
so the magnetic force is deforming the continents...by the friction of the elecric fields as an generator...

No not that reply this one, heres an example of how that in the ATS Format should be ( according to the terms and conditions of use)

El Hierro Volcano, Canary Islands
An earthquake swarm occurred at El Hierro volcano in July 2011 with 720 earthquakes measured in a week. The earthquakes were measured between magnitude 1-3, and most were at a depth of 5-15 km. The swarm occurred at El Golfo in the northwest of the island at the location of a landslide that created a 100 metre high tsunami about 50,000 years ago. The last eruption at El Hierro volcano occurred in 1793. The island contains 500 volcanic cones.

To the best of my knowledge - the thread for major Tsunami is from La Palma island.

La Palma is about 90 km North from El Hierro; and litterally the whole western side is slowly sliding down.
IF - WHEN IF; the volcano Cumbre Vieja errupts - as in MAJOR, sudden, Explosive erruption; that will probably be the end of New York and most of the Eastern USA, Southern UK, Spain and Portugal. Keep in mind, this same Cumbre Vieja did in fact had an erruption some 61 years ago - same time at THREE vents - BUT there were no Tsunami's. On the other hand, a shallow quake of as little as 5.0+ under La Palma COULD also trigger this major landslide and tsunami.

El Hierro does only have a small potential colapse of caldera rim on East-South-East side and the only tsunami thread from there is Western Sahara (Country). The major Tsunami caused by El Golfo was when the complete Western rim of the caldera colapsed about 13,000 years ago. That rims does not exist anymore, therefore no risk to the world at present. Only problem is IF - IF - IF the volcano erupts; some 8,000 people are litterally living on top of the old caldera.

Hi Puterman,
I have a question, favor to ask. Cause you are the earthquake guy, right? I thought i best ask you for such things.
Do you know where i can find a graph, plot from yearly earthquakes( historical data)?
With a graph i mean the thing with curves and x-y axis
i dont know how you guys call it in english.
Thank you in advance

How far back to you want to go, and what magnitudes?

I can produce graphs for pretty much anything back to 1900 of mag 6+ but earlier than that and it gets difficult.

Thanks,
I would like to check data from 1960-present, but thats maybe to much to ask.
1990-present, that can get me started for now.
How can you plot it?
It would be easy for me to get it at "2months magnitude-time" each graph?
But that would be 120 graphs so lets stick with 1year mag-time, is that possible?
1990-2011 yearly magnitude 6+ - time?

13,000 years ago - give or take 2,000; yes that was a major time of change on Earth. Heck of a lot happened in that time, therefore it is the border of our current Holocene period.

In order to have a possible answer on your question, first we need another answer; Where was Atlantis?

Question for Muzzy!

These quakes are as they were posted in Feb. The GeoNet one has always been a mystery as USGS and EMSC never registered it, but instead has one nearly 30 minutes later

Fast forward to today

NEIC has it down graded to 6.1

Extracted from Feb figures obtainable from ANSS/NEIC

Now in the GeoNet database we have: (I have remove dozens of lines to make it readable)

The 5.7 @ 3 minutes after the one above has gone.

magma.geonet.org.nz quakeml query (Returns the xml coding above)

So the question. We have moaned about USGS downgrading quakes from what GeoNet have said, yet here we have big changes from GeoNet.

Taking the 6.3

GN -43.58286, 172.6797, 6.343
US -43.58340, 172.7012, 6.300
EM -43.53000, 172.7600, 6.300

Extracted from above.

What we have ended up with (aside from the < to 6.1) is figures that are very similar.

Would it be fair to say that actually USGS get the locations about right? I know we have siad there are big differences sometimes but I am wondering if there are GeoNet inaccuracies that are later fixed.

Nabro?

On border, actually near Boorama where I had some explorations. That particular spot is quite active.

Nabro is still puffing from time to time; also often small quakes. Last week there was one day with 14 quakes, I thought we are in for another big blow. On 1 August it had a 4.0 too.

For the sake of interest, This is called the UFO Mountain. Locals actually talk of people that lived there in the old days - more than 3.4 meters tall. Some stone 'graves' are still in that area pointing to this phenomenal sizes. I measures some 'graves' to be over 4 meters long. These people had elongated sculls.

Google to LAT 10.190 LON 44.124 - Zoom to 1 km height, turn on horisontal and see this.

15Km South from there is a very rich IRON ore mountain; no mining, just go scoop it up.
Of top soil alone, iron content is higher than 38%. Anybody interested?

Solar Flare and Quakes:

Yesterday there was a strong M1.4 solar flare with high UV radiation from sunspot #1261.
Today there was another M1.1 from the same sunspot.
Both of these were with CME and directed about 15 degree off line with Earth - meaning that is very close.

40 minutes later (now 8 hrs ago) there was another solar flare - this one M1.7 from sunspot #1263 which sent its CME directly towards Earth. I can't yet see if it has a strong magnetic pulse.

OK, these are quite big events from the sun, directed right towards Earth. First radiation should hit our planet/magnetosphere around Friday evening followed by a very active Saturday and Sunday.

At least expect satelite interruptions and fantasy cloud/Areola Borealis displays this weekend.

Let us keep a look on the quake maps to see how this plays out! Exciting times.

Weather should be affected towards end of next week. Maybe extended hot time in USA and floods in Southern Hemisphere. Europe and China might have strong winds due to charge up in jet stream.
