I watched the eclipse tonight. I laid down on the ground in my backyard and just stared up as the moon was slowly swallowed up and during that time I
was in a pretty poetic mindset. After I came back in and warmed up I decided to write a poem that summed up how I felt and what I thought about while
watching it.
Beneath the Moon
All the world is singing if you listen for the tune
Hear the howling of the wind as you lie beneath the moon
The melody is ringing throughout the endless sea of space
The sun shines forth a song for the entire human race
And the moonbeams splash around us singing as they dance
Reaching from the lunar surface across such a great expanse
Lying here beneath the starlight you can feel the cosmic song
And the pulsing of your heartbeat seems to hum and tap along
As the shadows slowly spread across the surface of the moon
The symphony begins again as darkness enshrouds the dunes
And beneath the dancing stars and the moon's melodious display
All the world sits in awestruck wonder at the celestial harmony
All the world is breathing if you listen and you feel
All that life that's teeming, all those stars and suns and spheres
Floating in the abyss far beyond what we know here
Yet from our tiny dot we watch them and we revere
What magic is this that we live and breathe and reason with our minds?
What does it mean for us all to truly live and die?
What beauty can we find around us if we would just open our eyes?
Will we hear the Universe around us singing and our hearts keeping time?
Beneath the moon now wrapped in an onyx copper veil.
I wait to feel the moonbeams and I listen hard to hear.
All the world is singing if you listen for the tune
Hear the melody now ringing as you lie beneath the moon

I know the quality of the image isn't very good but it was too cold to hold the camera still
