If anyone still thinks cutting the defense budget will solve our problems let me tell you this clearly, look at the federal budget. Defense spending is only 18% of the budget, but 40%+ of our current spending is deficit spending. Cut defense to 0 (completely unrealistic) and it will not even fix half of the problem.

60% of our budget is spent on Social Security, medicare, medicaid and welfare. That is where the government will cut when it has no choice.

When our economy collapses, and it will, you will not get social security, and you will be lucky to get any federal money for health care, this is reality whether you like it or not.

Americans acted irresponsibly in spending personal and government money they did not have. Politicans were buying votes and Americans were buying images on credit.

When you dig yourself in a hole like this, the cuts are going to hurt. A lot of people are eating beans to dig their way out. There is no way around it.

Hopefully, in the future politicans will be more realistic in what they can and can not afford to spend to attract voting blocs. The whole concept of politicans buying votes by giving handouts or providing unnecessary control or stuff attractive to groups of voters (socialists call it wealth transfer) has to end with this economic collapse.

During the good times, governments should save for the bad times. They should supply basic services and do it well. It was once a big deal when governments went into debt in the US. Americans have gotten way too glutonous, materialistic and entitled. Our governments are made up of Americans. If we keep it up - if we don't change, we are going to be hoplessly poor. Nothing is free.

here's the thing

The majority of our tax dollars, both state and national, go towards paying interest on debt.

So the real question here is where did the debt come from?

Answer:

Greedy politicians who care more about power and money than the people.

Yes some states have legitimately gone into debt to keep things running, but the majority of them are just misusing funds.

Think: Does our legislative bodies really need to be paid 6 figures or more to do there job?

Edit: We would have no need for the Federal Reserve if it wasn't for greed in the first place.

It is called the military industrial complex. The military men(corporations) run the show.

Any military is only as strong as the men who support it. When it comes to uniting the world or destroying the world the numbers are clearly for unification. Besides, we are going to need a unified approach if we are to have any chance with the greater challenges of space exploration. Yeah things will be get tense as the truth becomes clearer, some might try and lash out as they are backed in a corner. With a good understanding of the issues before stepping in it will help limit any damage. There are a lot of good men and women working towards this.

I believe that the FED will not give up power

It is not going to have much of a choice in the matter when the people have spoken.

Federal spending from borrowing is the only thing that has kept the real collapse from happening.

This is what the mass media wants you to believe, keep you scared and in control. This is a complex issue and the more you research it, the better you will understand it and the more control to you. Keep at it.

There are budgets and there are budgets. Understanding the money flow is a very challenging and difficult task with the way greed has gotten a hold of the system. Don't stop looking.

Excellent point. There is going to have to be a lot of public debate, analysis and investigation to piece together a better system. Find out what works and what does not. Don't forget that we have some great technology these days that could help bring a lot of transparency, accountability and democracy to the system.

They should supply basic services and do it well.

These are difficult times, but that is usually when people show their best colours. Everyone knows is challenging, but if we all do our little bit we can all get through this together with a much better system at the end.

The whole pay structure system does need better review. Here in Australia we have an award system, depending what kind of job you have, a minimum pay rate is set. The harder you work the more you get paid. It is not comprehensive for society at the moment, but most roles are included. There are also many other systems available. There will be a lot of discussion about this and it is up to the community to decide how it will respond. It is great to see that you are at least thinking about these issues, keep it up.

personally I believe america has been had through economic warfare. China, Russia already dont use the american dollar for their trades, they are working on their own curency maybe to force america into the one world currency, with this I am not entirely underrstanding what is happening. What we need to realize is, america feeds most the world. Do they really want a total economic amrican meltdown. I would hope when the the global meltdown occurs and the world falls into despair, we americans remember, we do not need the almight $$ to help each other.

Are these the same city gov'ts that manhandled our industries out of existence, our families out of their homes, gave us speeding tickets while we still had cars and arrested us for being homeless on the streets after they dumbed-down our kids and kicked them out of the schools that were then closed down?

Good riddance.

The fading away of the unloved and unwanted State.

Right on I couldn't have said it better myself
Seriously....I had moved from California after retiring with 20+ years active duty military service to accept a job as an aerospace systems test engineer in Arizona (a small town in AZ) and let me tell you...I had racked up 4 freaking speeding tickets within my 1st 2 months of living here! Okay...okay before all of the "Well if you didn't speed, you wouldn't have a problem"
And YES I AGREE...however I also seemed to notice that no matter if I was "keeping up with traffic" or not, I ALWAYS seemed to be getting singled out. Was it due to having a new BMW M3 while living in an area where the average median income is $37k a year? I don't know but it has now made me feel that if I get nailed one more time (my last ticket was for doing 71 in a 65mph zone), it will be time to look into either getting a company transfer, or get on with my career elsewhere. I mean after awhile it gets to the point of....hey I am bringing income into this community, looking to buy a house in the next 6 months, yada yada...but with the way that this city is fleecing it's citizens in a desperate mad grab for cash for a short term fix to a long term solution, it only risks in running off those that would in time bring in much needed revenue.

Bah whatever lol time to take another nap on the couch as I am enjoying my holiday time off from work so please feel free to disregard my last as I am not awake yet
Happy holidays to all
