I dont even care if it is legal or not.... I want the word to get around the county jail that they have a "special" visitor... Then have his exit turned into an entrance.. I wonder if that can kill you?? I sure as hell hope so!

Of course you do because this is a heated topic, "think of the children, wont someone think of the children!!!!" but what crime did he commit here in the USA again? I cannot stand Dean Koontz books and feel he should be punished for writing the crap he puts out. The lady that wrote the twilight series, DEPLORABLE. I have a book here on photography. It has a chapter on shooting your nude infant in the tub, on the rug, etc. It was written in '74. Clearly advocating what is now considered child pornography. Now that I think about it, Dianetics has destroyed more families than the Catholic church in my state. How about we round up the Hubbards and toss them in jail? Sorry but when we start arresting people for writing books, we are on a bad path.

If the book is potentially harming (Pedophilia, murder, rape and so on) or the author is detailing their own accounts of a violent crime(s) they committed they should be responsible for the content. Both the seller, author and publisher are all responsible. Freedom of speech is as free as the consequences are, your free to say what ever you want no ones stopping you you have to deal with the consequences of your actions. For every action there is an equal reaction.

That's ludicrous. That is not what freedom of speech means and it is not so easy to delineate what is classified as such, even though you might think it is.

That line of docile thinking is why government is so willing and able to take away freedoms instead of actually doing what government is supposed to do.

I think pedophilia and the potential harm of children trumps freedom of speech... There's a line that has to be drawn. IMO

Ahhh and who gets to decide where that line is?

People like myself, you decide to exploit a human who has no ability to defend itself verbally or physically then rest assured there are far more people ready to swing the sword at all costs.

That statement is very, very concerning, friend.

I am standing up for free speech here, you are assuming that this guy has indeed molested children and you are ready to murder him. I am sorry and I didn't read this book, nor do I intend to, have you? Does he give a full confession of actual crimes and that is what he is getting arrested for?

If there is no confession of a crime within then this is a blatant disregard for our rights, no matter what the topic is.

No, he is not a terrorist.. he is also not overly dramatic in a forum to point out his view.
Anything that puts our kids in greater harm by adult predators needs to be looked at very closely.

I didn't vote for you and I don't trust you. Amazing how easy it was to take away the first amendment. Good job Americans, you just got bitch slapped yet again because of your stupidity and emotional righteous indignation.

Overly dramatic because a guy is getting thrown in jail for writing a book?
Okay Snip, guess how much stuff is "harmful to children" on the internet... might as well take that away. And take away alcohol because kids might drink some. And take away any sort of adult entertainment because that might warp the kids. Hey since you removed freedoms, now there's no line.

Are you saying as humans we are too simple to be able to differentiate between different situations? Why does it have to be black and white? Why can't laws be specific to protect our kids? A small minded person will try and blanket existing and all future "ideas" under one umbrella.

As an advanced species...we better start proving it.. And start protecting our most valuable asset- Our Children.

I would kill this man myself, if given the chance.

You are basically ignoring your own point. You think it's easy to decide what is immoral and what shouldn't be written about? You think that government should legislate morality in freedom of thought if it goes against society's wishes? Where does that line of thinking end and begin? It's a horrible slippery slope as reality is subtly filled with all the gray areas. There have been dangerous laws passed precisely in the name of protecting children! There always have been and there continue to be! I'd say it's more dangerous to try to proactively protect children from everything than it is to not do so as you bring them up in a society where as they mature they will find themselves wondering what happened to their freedom to be individuals and do what they want so long as it harm none.

C'mon. The gov't is taking your rights as we speak. Let's not think that stepping up to this pedophile in any way is going to restrict anyones rights. That's already happening. Might as well get a scumbag off the streets while we're at it.

By writing this book, he is, in my view promoting pedophiles. It is a "how to" book. It is disgusting..

Would you write this book? What kind of person would? Would you let them around your kids? If he isn't on a watch list.. How do you know he isn't around the corner from the park? When is his breaking point?

Normal people don't have these thoughts. He is broken! Do you know if he has harmed a child? Wouldn't it be safe to assume that he thinks about it allot? He seems to have some key info on how to do it without being noticed or caught.. That is what his book is about.

Think about this, what if this were a movie? What if it were an oil painting?

Do you arrest the artist for painting a provocative image, or do you let the artist paint whatever they like, as they are still allowed to, at least for now - and let the gallery owner decide whether they want to display that as art or not?

Don't give up your freedoms so easily, folks... there will be none left soon. Whenever you think whether something is ok to take away in order for us to have an illusion of a more safe life remember this awesome quote from Franklin:

"Those who would sacrifice liberty for security deserve neither."

Did this guy # a kid? No he didn't, he simply put words on a piece of paper. If that's worthy of jail time or censorship then we need to tear up the bill of rights and get on with this police state.

How do we know this for sure?

Have interviews been conducted with children in his life, has his computer been seized yet, etc.?

Source(s)?

How is it ludicrous to be held accountable for your actions and opinions? its quite logical in my opinion I can say rude things but I'm liable for people reactions. We all have to hold our actions accountable. To say otherwise is hypocritical you aim to protect ones freedom of speech when no one was stopping them. We are all free to speak, there is no device that stops us its the consequences, that stop some of us. So Again I see nothing wrong he spoke now he must face his actions. No freedom denied there.

Did you note that name of the book he wrote? "The Pedophile's Guide To Love and Pleasure" Do you know what pedophilia is? Yes, I think he deserves to be locked up. Don't chant that mantra about losing rights and police state. You're already there. It's too late to lock the barn after the horses escaped.

Well considering he got picked up on obscenity charges (what am I, in 19-#ing-50 here?) and not on any kind of sexual assault charges, I would assume he hasn't touched any kids. Why? Because he hasn't been charged on any. Now if evidence arises that he did touch a kid, throw him in a cell and lose the key. But right now this is an abortion of the 1st amendment.

So what? Honestly who cares. If we're already there then that means we need to fight even harder for the ones that remain. Do I like this guy? Of course not. But you take his away his rights and lock him in a cage for putting words on paper, who's next? This is how they take away our rights. They start with a group no one will defend and make emotional charges against them and then work their way into every one else. You people who are supposed to be enlightened on this site should know this, yet here you are screaming with the rest of the idiot mob.
