North Korea

www.bbc.co.uk

North Korea says it will not retaliate despite "reckless provocations" from the South, which held live-fire drills on the flashpoint island of Yeonpyeong.

I really thought something was going to kick off. Im suprised the North, backed down or did China and Russia have something to do in helping avoid a bloodbath.
From what I read they were already for a full invasion off the south if it all kicked off bumping and blowing. Thankgod, it never happened.
Me, I just hope they sort it peacfully but I know there's certian powers hell bent on war. Their sad.

Well, after sinking a war ship, and then shelling an Island. Yes?

I was unaware of the navy ship being sunk. So I googled it.

www.bbc.co.uk...

"Pyongyang rejected the claim as a "fabrication" and threatened war if sanctions were imposed, say reports."

Hahahaha, North Korea reminds me of someone on a vast amount of steroids.

"Hey, let's steal that guys cats, hehehe
"

10 minutes later

"I DID NOT DO IT, IF YOU MAKE THAT ASSUMPTION AGAIN I WILL BEAT THE CRAP OUT OF YOUR MOTHER"

politics is a joke.

I think Russia or China had something to do with NK backing down this time.

They were totally prepared for all out war according to their own news stations. Next to that the region is a tinderbox as it is already. I feel it might explode anytime.

They did not retaliate for the reason that they only shelled and acted this tough because of a change in power, the next in line, is unknown, they trying to show there people how strong they are againtsa the corrupt west ehehhe. Now that they got what they needed, fire a couple of sheels, tell there population they stoped an invasion force. Nowing that south korea and the usa never really do anything lol, ok south korea lost a war ship, got houses burned down, some people injured, and what did they do nothing, it was an all out propaganda mission by north korea. Seriously why would russia care, russia is has scared of china than the usa, so they would only gain by the peninsula behing at war..

Just my 2 cents eheheh

Did South Korea shoot at North Korean territorial waters like they did RIGHT BEFORE North Korea shelled the island? No? Then I guess there wasn't a reason to start the bloodiest conflict of the 21st century because of it... yet.

"cry wolf" syndrome comes to mind...

But, that doesn't make me feel much better about the situation, if NKorea says they will respond with devastating attacks if SKorea goes ahead with their drills, then says "we decided against it" after the drills went ahead as planned, it makes me wonder if they are just going to wait awhile before attacking.

South Korea is on a strong defensive stance at the moment, the North will probably just wait until that posture is relaxed a bit, which could be months, so it won't surprise me should NK respond then and point to this day as justification..

If not that scenario, NK will use this example of their restraint under provocation to try and secure a return to the 6 way talks and request what they really want.. money.

It's not Kim Jong-il any more, he's gone all senile and nuts, no wait.. Any way that dudes supposedly out of the main game, they the have little megalomaniac in the big man's gold leaf 70's porn shoot prop chair now, Kim Jong-un - by all accounts a bit of pizza eating social looser who now controls the worlds largest active chemical and biological weapons program, the worlds most heavily concentrated build up of artillery and a few dusty old nukes.... So he's like a typical nerd only, y'know with like a million slightly hungry troops...

North Korea is a joke of a nation. If they ever did decide to attack South Korea it wouldn't last very long. And NK would most likely have mass desertions.

And in any case, whats the point of sensationalizing everything you read about in the news.

Nothing to see here. Just another old and senile dog (NK) that is barking with no teeth.

I think North Korea is still planning to retaliate, and is pretty much telling everyone they will.

The media points to the following statement as North Korea saying they won't retaliate for Monday's drill:

The revolutionary armed forces of the DPRK did not feel any need to retaliate against every despicable military provocation like one taking revenge after facing a blow.

I think all they're saying here is don't expect us to immediately respond to every "provocation" with an attack. But that doesn't mean there won't be a followup attack.

In fact, if you read the whole press release (www.kcna.co.jp...), the very next paragraph says it all:

The revolutionary armed forces of the DPRK did not feel any need to retaliate against every despicable military provocation like one taking revenge after facing a blow.

The second and third powerful retaliatory strike to be made by the revolutionary armed forces of the DPRK knowing no limit as declared before the world will lead to blowing up the bases of the U.S. and south Korean puppet warmongers.
