Nanny state gone insane? Or, just a cynical and calculated move to remove some of our collective freedoms....????

Still, not many all in all..

Point taken though - I wasn't aware there was another thread.

Is this more sinister than we might want to believe? Is it quite possibly the dawn of the thought police?

The nazi-esque 'eye', 'ear' and 'finger' in V for Vendetta spring to mind.

I hate to sound conspiratorial on ATS....

I would have to say the latter.

If it were the former, then they would have done it 20 years ago. It would have been easier and the action would have reconciled with the argument.

Now it is blatantly obvious.

LOL never going to happen, if it does anytime soon, I will be shocked.

lol

It's already going on to a point, now i'm honestly not a big porn user (yes that's the truth) but i know the current UK laws surrounding it. The UK has banned certain fetish porn, along with violent porn, i don't know why people like these things but each to their own, it is fantasy afterall. Violent porn, including hardcore S&M can get you 3 years in prison if you possess it.

So i don't think it is out of the governments scope to expand this ban, all in the name of the children of course.

Huh is that really true? I had no idea.

Does it depend if you can tell it's obviously fake? like some crappy fake slaps lol. or is it only banned if you can't tell if it's fake?

I don't get it, we see violence everyday in movies etc, why is this any different? The media even shows us REAL violence and deaths on tv.

There can only be so much control over the internet. I know for a fact that if pushed too hard, a lot of people in more populous areas would set up ad-hoc networks and dead drop servers over wi-fi if not resorting to sneakernet with actual USB/SD/DVD dead drops in various geocached locations. It may not be the official "internet" but if you're in a big enough city or metropolitan area, the information (and porn) will be kept flowing.

What will they do when little Johnny shows up at school with "naughty" pictures of his "big sis" getting out of the shower?

Ban bathing and the changing of clothes?

I foresee a rise in "Peeping Tom" charges if this goes through.
