Dear Friend of Liberty:
You would think that with the positive results from the recent election we could
be looking forward to a restoration of freedom and prosperity in the coming
year.
Despite the election outcome, I have not known a time when the threats to our
Liberty and the Founders' vision have been greater than they are today.
The headlong process of "socializing" America continues with the Obamanization
of Health Care, the government takeover of auto companies and banks, attempts to
confiscate our retirement accounts, and recent federal efforts to totally
control our food production system. Add to these outrages an ongoing scheme to
enact a National ID Card and attempts to effectively end state Right to Work
laws and you have the making for a dangerous assault on our Liberty.
Perhaps even more ominous, the Obama Administration has clearly signaled that
the sinister parts of its agenda which have thus far failed to pass Congress
will be surreptitiously enacted via Executive Order. Cap and Tax, prohibitions
against offshore drilling, new regulation of food and drugs and the continued
installation of shadowy, unconstitutional Czars to regulate and control every
aspect of our economy and our personal lives, will move forward regardless of
what Congress or the American people think!
For Liberty to survive it is imperative that we confront today these new threats
in all of their ugly and freedom-killing forms.
In the toughest times times like we are facing right now in the life of our
nation freedom fighters have always stepped forward for America—armed with
whatever it takes and at whatever sacrifice—to answer the call to defend our
Liberty. That's how America was born and how we, as a free and sovereign nation,
have survived.
A major economic crisis continues to unfold in our nation. Massive federal debt
threatens to destroy our prosperity for decades to come. The destruction of our
money through the actions by the Fed continues at an alarming pace.
"Quantitative Easing" is just the latest name for the government's evil attempts
to steal wealth from unsuspecting citizens via debasement of our fiat paper
money system.
New government programs are started daily, and future plans are being made for
even more costly government expansion. All are based on the false premise that
we're in this mess because free-market capitalism and sound money failed. The
obsession is with more spending, bailouts of bad investments, more debt, and
further dollar debasement.
Many are saying we need an international answer to our problems with the
establishment of a world central bank and a single fiat reserve currency. The
ongoing collapse of economies in nations like Greece and Ireland demonstrate the
utter folly of this approach. The collapse of economies in Portugal, Spain and
other Euro nations may not be far behind as we witness first-hand that
collectivism, interventionism, and one-world approaches to managing economic
systems absolutely do not work.
Suggestions that America pursue these failed progressive, socialist (make that
"communist") models are naive at best, and sinister in far too many instances.
Those who want our nation to go down this destructive path do NOT believe in
individual Liberty and view our sovereignty and our Constitution as outdated
sentimentalism "ill-suited for a modern world."
Call me "naïve and sentimental" but I believe Liberty and the Constitution will
NEVER be outmoded. They do NOT need to be replaced by "more enlightened" systems
systems proven time and again to be absolute failures which impoverish and
enslave any people or nation foolish enough to follow them.
Congress allowed and enabled the Federal Reserve which proceeded to create our
monetary problems. When the problems become even more apparent, rather than rein
in the power of the Fed, Congress moved to give the Fed even more power.
I could go on but I know that you understand the crises we face and agree with
me on what must be done to turn our nation around.
I hear from Americans like you who are up in arms about what is going on in our
nation. Messages come into my congressional office morning, noon and night.
Taxpayers are outraged by the huge bailouts, the massive expansion of government
and the refusal by Congress and the leaders of both parties to follow the
Constitution.
Many Americans are frustrated—or even outright angry—about failed government
policies that just tighten the government's noose around our necks. The rise of
the Tea Party movement, which effectively started during my campaign for
President in 2007, was an outgrowth of the popular dissatisfaction with our
country's political leadership and its failure to follow the Constitution.
Since the financial crises have become more and more apparent and the attempts
by the Fed to solve the problem have become more desperate, my phone has been
ringing off the walls with calls from media outlets wanting to interview me and
get my opinions about what is going on and how we need to deal with it.
You will recall that during the presidential election the same media scoffed at
my suggestions that we were facing economic disaster if we didn't take action to
rein in the Fed and limit the size and cost of our overgrown government. The
mainstream media (and even some supposed "conservative media" types) laughed at
my calls for limited government, for abolishing the Fed and the IRS, for cutting
federal spending at home and abroad to balance our budget, and my call for a
sound monetary system.
Today, with the crisis at hand, they are not laughing any more. Fox News, for
example, which largely spurned me and my ideas during the campaign, regularly
invites me to appear and comment on the economy and politics. And other great
Freedom advocates like Judge Napolitano and John Stossel have since been hired
by FOX. The Neo-Cons are no longer controlling the debate as our voices have
increasingly been added in discussions about how to deal with the crisis that
confronts us.
It would be easy to sit back and smirk and say "we told you so" when addressing
our critics in the media and in political circles, but if we truly love our
nation and want to preserve liberty we have to do more we have to be LEADERS in
the debate and in the arena of ideas.
The time is ripe for us to be at the forefront of offering workable solutions of
calling for a return to limited, constitutional government, the need for honest
money and low taxes, and the absolute need to expose and abolish the Federal
Reserve.
The task before us is huge. Our challenge is both political and philosophical,
but either way the solution must begin by properly educating Americans about why
our current out-of-control, misguided political and financial systems have
failed, and what must be done to turn things around.

Given the severity and urgency of the crisis we face, we must do much more in
our battle to spread the truth. It is imperative that we redouble and expand the
work and scope of FREE's educational effort. Right now, while people are looking
for answers and even the media is trying to figure out what in the world is
going on, we must fill the leadership void and provide answers and solutions for
the problems that face us.
You have been a faithful supporter of the cause of Liberty. You understand the
serious nature of the threats that confront us and the dangers posed to our
freedom and our very way of life.
It is up to us to step up and lead the pro-freedom movement, not just in
Congress, but in every community and at every level of government and in every
institution of learning...
Leadership is sorely lacking in Washington despite the Republicans' recent
victory. We have seen before that Republican control of Congress is no guarantee
that freedom-oriented policies will be pursued and adopted. We must hold every
elected official's feet to the fire when it comes to following the Constitution
and voting for smaller government. We must set the example for them through our
educational work and let them know conservative "rhetoric" is no longer
sufficient. Any member of Congress who wants Liberty advocates to support them
will need to prove they are worthy of our support through both words AND their
consistent votes to uphold the Constitution and reduce the size of government.
It is time for Liberty lovers to step forward and offer the vision needed to
point Congress and our nation in the right direction and to halt the assault on
our nation's sovereignty.
It is time to fight for freedom with every resource available...before it is too
late!"
Merry Christmas
...and a Happy New Year!
Twas the night before Christmas, and in the YAL house.
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.
A semester was finished, projects complete,
And Dr. Paul once again won his congressional seat.
YAL interns were nestled, all snug in their beds,
While visions of liberty danced through their heads.
With students on break, and a lager on tap,
The staff was ready for a long winter's nap.
When out on the lawn, there arose such a clatter,
We sprang from our beds to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Tore open the shutters and was blinded by cash.
The moon shined bright on the light-falling snow,
It gave luster to objects located below.
What appeared before me was quite the surprise,
It was ol' Ben Bernanke, with malice in his eyes.
His sleigh made of dollars, his suit paper bills,
The Fed Chairman looked at me, and it gave me the chills.
"You think you're so clever with your liberty," he sneered.
"But I'll inflate and inflate, even more than you've feared!"
"Now Geithner! now, Congress! now, Senate and House!
We'll make the dollar too weak for even a mouse!"
His fury was frightening, his power unmatched.
But I knew Mr. Bernanke's plan had a catch.
"Excuse me, sir Chairman," I quietly said.
"But I have some info which may turn you red."
"Oh yes, Mr. Frazee?" he answered with glee.
"What could you possibly say that might bother me?"
"YAL members are young, and they are eager too.
"They know what they believe and certainly don't like you.
"With strong donor support and the winds at their backs,
"I can assure you this, they're planning to attack."
"This Fall I saw them training, they're incredibly smart.
"They've turned liberty activism into a science and an art.
"Many volunteered for campaigns to express their strong voices.
"And came Election Day, the results reflected their choices."
"The TEA Party is for real, don't you know what this means?
"Say goodbye and good riddance to your printing machines.
"Ron Paul has a new job - and, oh, I'm sure you will care,
"He's the new Domestic Monetary Policy chair."
Bernanke's jaw quivered, and fear filled his eyes.
He knew I was serious, and that we had uncovered his lies.
And just then he noticed the snow was starting to stick,
His paper sleigh was melting, this was the end of his shtick.
"Jeff Frazee!" he yelled, "you have made an enemy of me!"
"Don't you dare think this is the last of the Fed that you'll see!"
I smiled and shrugged as I checked the date.
"Congress starts on January 3rd, so we'll see what's your fate."
In the meantime, vacation is sweet, and I believe it's well-earned.
YAL's network is growing and there's so much that we've learned.
The R3volution continues as Ron Paul's fortunes now take flight.

But we haven't even taken to the streets in large scale protest yet. We need to boycot christmas one year! Or something like that.
FIJA seeks to require that juries be informed of their nullification rights. Informed jury amendments have been filed as an initiative in seven states and legislation has been introduced in the Alaska state legislature.
...the right of juries to judge both the law and the facts -- to nullify the law if it chose -- became part of British constitutional law.
It ultimately became part of American constitutional law as well, but you'd never know it listening to jury instructions today almost anywhere in the country....
Now a remarkable coalition has sprung up to challenge this secrecy as undemocratic, unconstitutional and dangerous. Though organized by libertarian activists, the Fully Informed Jury Amendment movement includes liberals and conservatives...
...many groups in this country feel the government has overstepped its power in some way and that there must be protection for the natural rights of American citizens. They are defending not only the right to protest or carry a gun or not wear seatbelts but challenging the right of the government to decide such matters without the mediating effect of a jury's judgement of fairness in a particular case.
In the many discussions across several states, questions have arisen concerning exactly how the "Tenth Amendment Resolution" will help....
The principal motivation came from the myriad of federal mandates which have been placed and are planned to be placed on the states. State legislatures feel they have little choice but to implement these mostly-unfunded mandates and pass the cost for implementation to the state taxpayers. For most state legislators, this is a very frustrating dilemma.
The Tenth Amendment assures that we, the people of the United States of America and each sovereign state in the Union of States, now have, and have always had, rights the federal government may not usurp. Article IV, Section 4 says, "The United States shall guarantee to every state in this Union a republican form of government.....", and the Ninth Amendment states that..."The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people".
We have, through apathy and lack of will, allowed federal legislators and bureaucrats to assert their will over us and commandeer our funds for their own use.... most of it today outside the authority granted to them by the Constitution.
When a state passes this resolution proclaiming its sovereignty, that state may then claim exemption to most federal mandates under the Tenth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution....

While 18 of the 50 United States offer their citizens an opportunity to recall their elected officials, it is a fact that in our nation’s history, no federal legislator has yet been recalled.
It has not been for lack of interest. Rather, the process has languished in part due to debates on whether or not legal authority exists for recall of U.S. Senators and Congressmen; and, in the case of Idaho, interference by a state court prevented recall of a federal legislator....
After reviewing the body of law and opinion concerning recall, it is apparent that if recall of federal legislators is to succeed, it will likely only be after an intense battle in the federal court system as to the degree to which the courts will go to allow the literal meaning of the Tenth Amendment to be in force and effect.
As this author reads this language, it appears clear that " the States ‘ and " the people " living with in them, should be recognized to have the right of recall.
But in order to implement a strategy that will enable recall petitions to result in actual removal of errant Senators and Congressmen, considerable legal and political obstacles will present themselves and can only be overcome by understanding the lengths to which those opposed to recall can be expected to go...
Eighteen states have recall provisions. Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Georgia, Idaho, Kansas, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, Nevada, New Jersey, North Dakota, Oregon, Rhode Island, Washington, and Wisconsin all have recall of some kind available to their voters. Only seven of these states require any grounds.
