The victim of the burglary returned home to find that somebody had broken into her family's house.

She was missing laptops, jewelry, clothes and a large duffel bag.

Investigators thought the description of the duffel bag was eerily similar to a bag belonging to a woman who had just called 911 asking for a ride, claiming she was tossed out of her house.

First one - definite future contender for a Darwin award... Wendy Northcutt, please note "Zannish Frazier", watch this space for an RIP.

That said, there's something to be said for her raw nerve, calling the police to help her transport stolen goods... definitely chuckle-worthy.

Second one makes me less than happy. I didn't watch the video (download limit) but the text was enough. Although I think the damning of the neighbour is unnecessary, considering that it was the LAPD, not the neighbour, that did something actually wrong. The guy could have been sitting there with a firearm waiting for a specific person to walk down the street, or even for the neighbour to appear (although we now know that he obviously wasn't), and so calling the cops was perfectly reasonable. A second look would have been better, perhaps, but the cops "shoot first, ask questions later!" is what's really... well, less than great.
