It's definitely a different time. Back then the only way to get porn was either from your friends.

Now these days porn is just a click away so I can understand the concept of this but I'm with Frosty that it should be us not outsiders in control what needs to be watched or not. Parents who are concerned with this need to take extra steps such as using filters and monitoring their kids Internet habits at all times. Last thing we need is someone else telling us how to do our jobs.

I am not really a huge fan of porn these days, only porn I ever indulge in is my personal home made stuff, and videos girls have made for me personally etc. Hatchet faces, horrible acting and fake boobs just don't do it for me.

That being said I am against all censorship on the net, it is a parent's responsibility, fullstop. It is parent's responsibility to not buy their kids adult games and movies, it is the parent's responsibility to supervise their kids on the net. Keep the computer in the family room, glance over every once in a while, how hard is it?

Internet "bans" are prettymuch a waste of time and tax payer money, easily defeated. 30 seconds to download and install TOR, 2 minutes to search for and plug in a working proxy, not to mention the bazillion web proxies that popped up when school and workplaces started filtering heavy duty.

Saw this today - looks like the UK govt. has found a better way..
Linking the porn debate to personal ID's so that every individual can have their online habits tracked and recorded in a database.

www.independent.co.uk...

Pretty scary stuff.
Mark of the Beast.

All to save the children, of course.

It's far worse than just blocking - it's building a database of what people watch by issuing ID's

I think the question that needs to be talked about is what is considered porn?

What about the adverts posted on websites by the Daily Mail linking to adult magazines yes they are topless women but where is the line between suggestive nudity and porn itself?

Some scenes on Game of Thrones broadcast on tv could be considered softcore porn.

But hey listen, Just get a vpn and go around the filter nowadays you can get them as add-ons for browsers.

I dont buy into the idea it's only a click away. The parent gave the children access to that click. When talking about children and parents. Just keep a desktop computer in the main room of the house that way you can always monitor them infront of you or invest in a home security camera just to put pressure on them that will be an eye on them. My neighbour has one for his children because he is paranoid they might get hurt at night so put one in their bedroom(kids are like 3-5)

VPN and there are screwed i imagine.

Bad idea anyway, i mean it may start with pornography, but it would most certainly not end there.

i kid looking at material can make them not really understand the meaning of sexual acitvity when all they mainly see what be of a hardcore porn nature. At the same time it might stop people being sexual predadtors as they can release themselves to videos rather than their hormones taking over and looking for a partner or potetnially a victim.

if this is more of a conern for adults not being ableto watch materlia due to the kids then i suggets to download a proxy server of some sort then eeverythign is fine again.

maybe they are preparing for an islamic state

Thing is its all those politicians, cabinet members, high ranking Police and judges that are into all that sick and twisted pornography that they wish to ban.

That is of course when there not having sex with rent boys or operating/participating in the odd child sex ring.

It certainly would be nice if we had all the porn on its own domain, so we could block that domain and be done with it. As it stands today, there is no single piece of software that will effectively remove 100% of porn sites, especially on smart phones.

If you can opt in its a brilliant idea... no freedom is stripped, however it keeps away young eyes from.things they cant comprehend and should be taught them in other more delicate ways.

Now if only we could have the same opt in for paper advertising........

you so right. never understood why a five years old would need a phone for. my son is six now and could not give a damn about a phone other than if there is a game he can play on it. and even then after a few minutes he gets bored and goes outside and play.
