I thought id entitle the thread with something eye catching in typical ATS manner, Allthough its not really that much to worry about *PHEW! i hear you say*

So theres really no need for this sort of over-reaction...
[atsimg]http://files.abovetopsecret.com/images/member/2651873d1ea6.jpg[/atsimg]

However recent news articles are showing that the internet will be Censored by the Internet providers in homes with children to restrict their access to explicit material even more than AOL. Which i didnt think was possible (AOL+Parental restrictions= The bain of my entire existance)

www.theatlantic.com...

www.guardian.co.uk...

www.telegraph.co.uk...

Obviously at this moment its Only the Uk that is involved in this (You lucky Americans you)

However it is now looking likely that Broadband receivers here will have to "Opt-In" to receiving such services from the internet providers

Well you could have said "In the UK" in your thread title. Now I am covered in sweat and tears and I have a loaded 12 gauge shotgun laying across my desk.

As long as they don't take sites like ATS off the net then I'm cool.

I can kind of understand how they can get away with taking extremely offensive porn off the internet but when It comes to sites that are only offensive to the government and not the people, that is a different matter.

Thanks for the picture of braveheart and the caption, made me giggle

Taking porn off the internet offensive or not isn't right. Nobody forces you to go to those porn sites, you choose to. What is offensive to you may be some guys holy grail of porn. I think the porns sites should be labeled a different way yes. I saw something on the news last week where they wanted porn sites to end in "xxx" and that i agree with. I don't think adults should be regulated when it comes to porn. If a man or woman wants to look at porn so be it. Have fun!

Opt in policies are good. With the ISP taking a part in this hopefully it will relieve some of your head bangers. Having it forced onto you if you have children in the house has both good and bad points. It does look like they are trying to take this issue responsibly and comes across as a good balance. I am sure the community will make their views known.

This might not be all bad.

Alot of guys may be forced to leave the house, and actually interact with a real, live girl.

Just sayin'

Kids, Google, Pop-ups. Site ads.

I completely understand where you are coming from, I don't think it should be allowed to get taken off once its up there. Although I can definitely see the grounding behind it.

I can't find the thread I'm thinking of...

But remember the topic about people in the UK being sued for downloading? It was mainly from porn companies or entertainment companies that would pay this agency to chase after all of the 'offenders' and send them a bill in the mail (or take them to court if they don't pay).

Maybe this (OP) is where it has been taken now..

Pornography should be outright banned, not just censured. Too many negative results have occurred due to pornography. The infectious diseases that plague those involved in the porn industry, child pornography, and rampant abuse. Not to mention the degradation of women and how much pornography has desensitized our society.

Im sorry, folks, but i have to state my own particular belief that the world is a poorer environment with such things a porn influencing people.
The need for porn is somehow lost on me....i fail to see the benefits or the entertainment value of such crap.
I believe this stuff is degrading to all who participate in it, either by watching it or making it.
I do not understand the idea that watching porn is a normal healthy adult entertainment, or that is is harmless fun?
The mental health of all participants is seriously questionable imho.
The whole concept of a healthy society, of balanced people, and a reasonably safe society for all,is called into question, through the entertainment we which we indulge .
I may be a prude, but strippers pose no alure for me, and in fact embarrass the hell out of me.For both the performers, and the audience.
I am not only embarrassed, but sickened by the prurience with which the act of love is embued by such behaviors.from both sides of the stage.
It actually sickens me to watch people perform such degrading acts, and likewise the audience reactions, and obvious relish make me want to puke.
This subject puzzles me as it is counter productive to society to foster attitudes towards others that tend to diminish their humanity and dignity.
To this end, i have never been able to sit through such performances till the end even, nor enjoy them.
I have consitently become so disgusted with same that i invariably leave the premises with a bad taste in my mouth, and a sickened depressed feeling in my gut.
Porn, from the very few minutes ive ever watched it, has an even stronger effect on me.
The cheapening of human dignity, the degradation of the human spirit, seems to be a booming growing business, and passtime for many people.
I dont nessessaily believe in satan, but i do believe in evil, and it is alive and well, in the New Dehumanised World Order.
The systematic lowering of the spiritual worth of the populace fits in nicely with their plans...and is perhaps a cornerstone in the campaign for world dominance of the corporate elite.

On a somewhat related note....

What is it about the egocentric world we live in that people cannot just say "Meh, it's not for me. But, whatever. Live and let live..." but are, instead, driven to conclude that if they are not in agreement, then the subject matter surely must be the very thing that is wrong with the world? That it must be Satanic, sick, and misguided?

Let me give it a try... I don't care for Brussels sprouts and it is obvious that the NWO is using Brussels sprouts to brainwash our impressionable children. I am not a religious man but, nonetheless, I am led to feel that Brussels sprouts are the work of Satan and anyone who enjoys them is most certainly a deviant and demonic sheeple who is deserving of a horrible death. Brussels eaters are the worst kind of people and just thinking about them makes me want to vomit. Jesus hates people who eat Brussels sprouts. One day he will return to crotch kick anyone who has ever even licked the packaging that Brussels sprouts came in. Brussels sprouts and those who eat them are beneath my contempt and I now need to go atone for simply typing the word Brussels sprouts. I am beyond disgusted.

All things considered... I think "I don't care for Brussels sprouts." works much better.

And on that note... if the government ever tries to restrict my access to online Brussels Sprouts I will protest and write my representation to let them know I do not agree with it. But, having said that... Protip spoiler alert: Most systems come with 1TB, or better, drives these days and that is a LOT of Brussels sprouts should a drought occur.

Then again maybe I'm just still twitchy from the scare the title of this thread put into me.

It really is a ridiculous notion.

If you have children, then perhaps you should monitor their internet usage. Just like you would with the TV. This is a family issue. Not a government issue.

I dont have any children, but if I did, I would certainly know what there are up to. I dont need anyone else busting into my personal life, regulating the content in my household.
