"Warlock"

(Took forever for me to think of the name of this one; probably someone else has already named it by now.)

While it peters out after the first half, it is also a fascinating watch because that first half is a very factual compendium of Renaissance-era witch-finding techniques (although some are actually from "Pennsylvania Dutch" lore and Hohman's compendium).

Seriously, someone hijacked their girlfriend's graduate level ethnographic research among the Amish / Penn Dutch.

I like it for that reason.

Compliance!

Cloak and Dagger
Red Dawn

Ice Pirates

just some others that sprung to mind.
Was Monty Python's Holy Grail in the 80's? Think so...not sure.

Labyrinth

Cracking film.

Also, best way of getting your kids into bed when they are messing about at night.....chase them through the house with lights off and your hands up against your forehead like the baby eating creature from the film.

Big difference between Pan's Labyrinth and Labyrinth.

On the 80's cult films, we're talking about the one with David Bowie and Jennifer Connelly (I think it was her first film, and she was like 16 in it)...along with a lot of Henson puppets.

Jared, the Goblin King answers Sarah's plea to take her whiny baby brother, but then she tries to fight to get him back. To do so, she must solve the labyrinth (maze) in 13 hours (which he then shortens I think). During this, she meets colorful characters and learns valuable lessons on the way, yadda yadda yadda. Henson had two masterpieces...this and The Dark Crystal. Well worth seeing.
