G'day ATS, I know this is really trivial, but it bugs me!!!

Has anyone else noticed the comma after a thread title?

[atsimg]http://files.abovetopsecret.com/images/member/60b61779b155.png[/atsimg]

It just look silly when there's punctuation at the end of a title thread.

I may be in a minority of one, but I was wondering if we could trash it, pleeeeasee, I'll be able to sleep better!!

All the best, kiwi

Surely the comma is there deliberately, on the basis that the page number is part of the sentence?
Try reading it aloud. I think it makes good grammar.

The problem arises when the thread title has punctuation at the end, like look at this thread title,

followed by a ","

It's stupid!

I think the fact the page number is in bright green should deter people from thinking it's part of the title, surely!!

Perhaps the solution is to imagine the thread title in quotation marks, as a sentence within the main sentence.
As in;
"Who's afraid of Virginia Woolf?", Act1. Or
Who's afraid of Virginia Woolf?, Act1.

It's a conspiracy, I tell ya!

Ugh, the "," is supposed to go inside the parenthesiseses.

And why is that question mark wondering about?

Remembering the old saying was quotation marks act like a cradle with punctuation marks.

Sorry for the dangling participle.

( SD did you mean quotation marks or parenthesis? )

But commas save lives!

"Let's eat, Grandpa!"
"Let's eat Grandpa!"

See?

Oh yes and:

“Woman, without her man, is nothing.”

Yep.. It drives me crazy too. I always have to go back and take off the periods in my thread titles so I don't lose my mind.
.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.

Why does "Page 1" have to be part of the sentence again?

Also, why is there a coma after the title, but no period after the damn "page 1?" I think this is meant to be infuriating.

Haha love it!!!!!

One look at my desk will tell you I don't have OCD!!!!

It's just untidy, I mean, a question mark followed by a comma, my hands are sweaty, I'm tapping the floor with my foot, what was that, O, C.....?

Hilarious. Notice it for the first time tonight, then stumble into this thread. OCD perhaps. BUT IT BUGS ME!

I think it comes down to that it looks out of place, with the small text after it.
