I'm from the UK and I should know the name of the planet I'm going to talk about but I really haven't got a clue, I think it may be Saturn, Jupiter or Mars. Anyway, a few years back, I was out drinking with a few friends and we were walking across a rugby field (east direction) and a few of us noticed something that looked like a satellite going straight up towards the planet I mentioned and didn't really think anything about it as I'm used to seeing satellites. But then something strange happened, it approached the rite side of the planet and as it cleared the top, it made a sharp turn left as if it had got caught in the planets orbit but then it seemed to get free and go in a straight line left and disappear. I didn't really question it, I thought it could be something easily explained. I checked the internet but couldn't find anything relating to it. However, I was looking at the stars one night last year (east direction) through binoculours and saw the exact same thing again. I'm sure it was the same planet I saw the anomaly at before. I've been looking so hard through the internet to see if there's an explanation but can't find anything, no forum threads, no news articles, nothing on space websites. The object seems to appear far below the planet, go up in a straight line and curve above the planet as if it's caught in gravity, escapes and exits in a straight line left and just disappears. I was going to make a gif trying to explain but I've made a simpler picture and will include it in this post. Another thing about the object, it appears to be the same size as the planet it's going around. Is there a simple explanation for this or am I just seeing things?

I don't understand what you mean by "that small"? It was an object passing by Jupiter, Saturn or Mars. And the first time I saw it I wasn't looking through binoculours and a few people saw it. It looks like it is an object the same size as the planet. If it is the same size and I can see the planet, I will be able to see the object. That's all I know about the planet is that it's a bright planet that we can only see for part of the year (I think)

Edit: Obviously the planet and object I saw weren't as big as what is implied in the picture, you would see it how you would see the size of mars through binoculours, still just a star like white dot but a bit clearer than you would see it through your eyes alone.
