This thread starter HAS to be from San Francisco.
I bet he has a name like Chauncy, he seems feminine.

LOL!

What was that, does that contribute anything to this thread nothing, it was a really just mediocre insult that give me a chuckle that’s about it. I bet your name is Bob from Texas you have 37 assault rifles, a outdoor firing range, go on manly mountaineering expeditions’, own a muscle car and eat glass but despite all of this have the penis the size of maggot and you try to make up for this by pursuing “manly” pursuits with other men (very Brokeback I must say). Or you could just be like me an average guy who likes to procrastinate by writing random stuff on the internet.

Really don’t try to insult me, if you have nothing other than your really bad insults to contribute don’t post.

The primary difference is mindset. In Britain, you see that your police force is there to protect you, the public.

In America, it is set up that while the police will protect, i am not going to sit around and wait for them.

Regardles, our guns are about keeping the government honest, not about enforcing vigilante justice.

I agree it's the mindset that’s the difference.
Your whole history has determined how you are as a society today.

Your families have gone through generations of owning guns or being allowed to own guns but times have changed dramatically and will do so in the future too.

I don’t understand the argument put forward that claims civilians must be armed to keep their own government from having too much power and control over them.

The same people are happy for every other citizen of every other Country throughout the World to adhere to that power.

If like in Iraq or Afghanistan, some civilians saw the American government as a threat to their way of life, they travel over to the US and start attacking government workers with guns, I’m sure you would be outraged. You would expect them to have their action undertaken through their government instead. So people who use that argument should also support the notion of terrorism against government targets. I hope not.

As for self defence, well we in the UK have lived without guns for many years and we don’t have more of problem than you do regarding crime. Yes, we call the police and we do defend ourselves until they get here. Having a gun will only make things worse. A shoot out between untrained civilians in my neighbourhood, no thank you.
You still have crime don’t you? So it’s not a deterrent.

Like I say if the police aren't fit for purpose, then that needs to be changed.

Guns are there to kill. You can say they are there for protection but there are many non lethal forms of self defence that can be used against an attacker.

One day, America will be like Europe in its values in many ways. Socialist type healthcare, more workers rights and yes, even a ban on armed civilians.

You aren't Afghanistan or Iraq. You are a civilised nation.

Civilised means being civil. Part of being a civilised society is having adequate protection in place to keep the citizens safe without having the need to turn your family into a militia.

I hate it when people turn to unsults. Those posts should be removed.

Step 1-Enact fascist laws
Step 2-Make it harder to own guns
Step 3-Make it a criminal offense to own them
Step 4-FEMA takeover of US Gov't
Step 5-UN takeover of world
Step 6-Complete oppression of free thought, and concentration camps.

All I'm saying is: no guns-no rights. A violation of the constitution. And they can pull my gun off my dead cold bloody hands.

Why can't people see what's going on in this country, or for that matter the world? We are getting our rights trampled on by liberal pansies! We gotta stand up for our rights, even if it's armed resistance.

No matter what you say or do you'll never get guns out of the hands of criminals. What you're missing in life is a real threat to you and your family's life, that might just change your mind in a big hurry. Are you willing to put the lives of your family at risk by not having a hand gun in your home, thinking it would never happen to you? Try moving into the worst neighborhood in your area without a hand gun, make it known you don't believe in guns and then get back to us in 2-3 years if your still alive. People like you seem to spend their lives living in La La Land, go back and read your Bible or whatever and see all the senseless killing going on at that time, it hasn't changed much at all since then and never will. If you think your argument is changing any minds here your sadly mistaken. People like yourself never 'get it' until it's too late.

Terrorism is using violence to gain or change political issues.

One mans terrorist is one mans freedom fighter.

It depends which side of the fence you are on.

You live in a democracy, campaign, use your vote.

It would be different if you didn't have that.

How on earth do you think people cope living in places whre they don't have armed civilians?

I've lived in areas where gun crime was rife. You didn't have people demanding guns to protect themselves.

i don't support terrorism. that is why i own weapons of many and varied types. and i am big enough to remove peoples limbs without weapons, if need be.

i never feel terror. and i walk VERY softly, as i am a pacifist by nature....but reserve the right to enact horrible violence when my survival is threatened.

Yes, I am a terrorist for the common man. Call me it, I'm fine with it, I'm sure I'm on a gov't terror list by now anyway. I have no problem with armed resistance to fascism. I have no problem standing up to big banks and takin' them down. So sure, I am a terrorist. Just like Saddam. And Bin Laden. *sarcasm*

Lol, hence the username

I don't feel terror either but why need a gun? Why not allow the use of non lethal forms of sefl defence like tazers or pepper spray?

Some people believe just because you are against having an armed society that makes you a softie.
Far from it.

I keep getting these responses “you can’t protect yourself” that’s rubbish, I can and have protected myself in the past using violence. Why do you need a gun to protect yourself, you only need a gun to protect yourself from other gun owners so if you ban all guns over a period of time eventually the number of guns circulating even in the criminal fraternity will fall. I am not saying ban them overnight.

If everybody used violence to get what they wanted then...well I think you can see what I'm getting at.

Well somebody is paranoid......

If I was you I would avoid saying on a public forum that you are a terrorist who doesn’t mind taking the banks down.

because they are useless over 50 ft. away and I want some stand-off distance between me and those who are threatening me if possible and no it doesn't mean you're a "softie" to be without a weapon you may be the toughest hombre on the planet but it does, with all respect, show you're naive.

Is that so, now what leads to believe this?

What makes you think your government has you on a terror list.

No, it's not very respectful to call me naive my friend

It's all about being realistic. You've more chance of being struck by lightning than being in a situation where there's a 50ft gap between you and a guy whose threatening you in order for you to need that gun.

Most people who are intent on doing you harm get up close real fast. How do you know the intentions of someone from 50ft away?
