Its not isolated police abuse incident, as far as I know flogging women for minor things happens regularly in countries like Sudan. This was just captured on camera.

You might be surprised but I agree with you about religions being cults; etc. The fact remains that alot of people seem to need some kind of organized religion in their lives and are able to use it in a good way. They remain good citizens in spite of their religious beliefs. I see examples of that every day. If they are good neighbours, friends and citizens I am not going to hold their religious beliefs against them. It just isn't that important.

Those who use their religion as an excuse to do harm are a totally different breed. Even there, I hold the individuals responsible; not their religion; even tho their religion might be all fairy tale and make believe.

And also... the press have reported today that this footage is not of the woman who wore trousers.... that woman was not beaten but received a fine instead.... this footage (as far as I know and according to the paper earlier) is still not confirmed.... ie; why this woman is being beaten.
