One of my friends who stayed at Rachel and grew up a couple hours from Area 51 told me an interesting story about that "Extraterrestrial Highway"

Group of rednecks tore it down with chains on the back of their truck, and then drove out into the desert and tossed it into a ravine. Not three weeks
later, the very same sign sat in the same spot - same graffiti and everything.
Pretty interesting, my friend Ryan (story above) has always been convinced that the alien idea involving area 51 was implemented in order to distract
witnesses from the actual military aircraft testing that has been going on there.
