Libération (Prominent French newspaper) hosts WikiLeaks mirror: Statement

wlcentral.org

Prominent French newspaper Libération is now hosting a WikiLeaks mirror at wikileaks.liberation.fr... . Please find below a translation of the media group's statement:

"We have chosen to help prevent the asphyxiation of WikiLeaks at a time when governments and companies try to block its operation without even a legal order. Like thousands of other sites, Libération.fr decided to participate in the support movement that is being put into place on the internet, replicating WikiLeaks content f

This is the translation, but the original statement in French can be found in the Additional News Links.

Finally one prominent newspaper is doing what is right (The Guardian is the other one.). I truly hope that other newspapers will follow this example. This is how journalism should work throughout the world. Personally I salute for the French bravery whose openly tell the reader: "a time when governments and companies try to block its (WLs) operation without even a legal order."

Keep up the good work, Liberation. I truly hope others will follow you.

Excellent!

I hope their readership (and membership/subscriptions) get a HUGE Boost for this.
If it does, other newspapers might realize that publishing the truth will bring their readers back.

Maybe we will start seeing some real investigative journalism
instead of just comments on official press releases.

S&F !!!

THANK YOU for posting this. Great news!

Democracy is about transparency and accountability in government. But international corporations signed trade deals with our governments that demand "confidentiality."

Corporate / government "confidentiality agreements" neutralize and negate democracy - taking our countries away from us.

It's time for us take back democracy. Time for transparency and accountability.

The problem is whether certain information by Wikileaks be filtered out by the French news company.

I am hoping Wikileaks would reveal some "earth-shaking" facts, not some world leaders gossiping and cry baby.

Oh My!! . A Rothschild owns the Libe'ration? Good find! That certainly puts things in a different light, doesn't it?
That info deserves it's own thread...

You're propagating disinformation.

Get real. Rothschild's 37% ownership shows that a takeover bid failed. 37% is a long way from control, financial or editorial.

Libération (affectionately known as Libé) is a French daily newspaper founded in Paris in 1973 by Jean-Paul Sartre, Philippe Gavi, Bernard Lallement and Jean-Claude Vernier[, Pierre Victor alias Benny Lévy and Serge July in the wake of the protest movements of May 1968.

Originally a leftist newspaper, it has undergone a number of shifts, in particular during the 1980s and 1990s, and, more recently, since Edouard de Rothschild's entrance in its capital (37%) in January 2005. Its editorial point of view is currently center-left.

ultimately they are scare of anonymous and potential riot in france; it's a move to help "killing in the egg" the anon movement, and cool things down;

the french citizen must feel they leave in a free country while their leaders are voting insane fascist laws to gain more control on the web
look for loppsi2
(www.connexite.fr... - this is french)

last but not least,
anonymous is the real deal to focus on;
amazing potential power and completely out of control by ptb

...you cannot trust that paper.

NEWSFLASH: You cannot trust anything, not even your own perceptions.

Rothschild's money may be in the paper, but he does NOT control it. Like everything, there will be play, negotiations, tussles and jockeying.

BUT - having another "mirror" for WikiLeaks IS important. The more mirrors there are, the harder it will be for any one person or entity to play gatekeeper and control the information flow.

Connections and influence are NOT control.

Good to be informed and aware tho. Which is why we need LOTS of alternatives and sources.

this tactic of connecting wikileaks to the rothchilds
was stated quite clearly in the
pentagon cybercommand white paper on wikileaks and how to "handle" the situation
THE WHITE PAPER SAID
"if we connect WL with someone high profile who is hated they will lose public support"
this is straight out of the cybercommands hand book
this IS the exact thing they stated 6-8 months ago

dont be fooled by the obvious connections laid out like bread crumbs
to mould public opinion against wikileaks

think these guys have an unlimited budget to spend on making wiki look bad

think before you are feed bread crumbs
