I do this as a job, music that is, I could list bands and videos for hours on end, although maybe this is a good point to start for people. The blues comes in many shapes and forms.

Hi, I love music and have a full band, and a solo project. My band is called Astrum, and my solo project is called Kosmokrater. It's what I call black metal, Astrum is more 1st wave, Kosmo... hmm, kinda 2nd I guess. So, yes, I am mainly into metal. Bands I love are Venom, Bathory, Celtic Frost, etc., I also love early Bowie, Eno, Ultravox, Devo, and Gary Numan, Kraftwerk too. I'm 43, so these are bands I grew up with. Just to share, and I hope I did this right, is a new song of Kosmokrater, called Aldebaran, off the 2011 CD called Wunderwaffen. I uploaded it today.
Well, it said malformed video something so here is the link:

Comments welcome.

I like pretty much all types of music. The only stuff I have listened to that I have a hard time getting in to is, Reggae (besides Bob Marley), Death Metal, Black Metal, Math Rock, Thrash, and Hardcore.

Other wise I am open to almost all types of western music. I tend to lack an understanding of the artistic principles of eastern music. So, it is tough for me too grasp.

Tonight I have listened to a collection of Bach's organ works, Lightnin' Hopkins, AC/DC, Little Feet, Abney Park, Trans Siberian Orchestra, Jim Croce, James Darcy Argue's Secret Society, John Lee Hooker, Junior Wells, The Budos Band, and Bellaruche.

What does this tell people?

I like all kinds of stuff. If I'm in the mood, I find it fun to go digging for the free (and free to use) gems at and places like that. (A lot of stuff there is just people goofing around but then there are real gems. In which case the only difference between a signed artist that gets airplay and some artist doing CC releases from their garage direct to the internet is access to a good audio engineer. But even then, considering hobbyists that do know what they're doing and studios engaged in the "loudness war" the quality difference can become negligible or even favoring the low-budget production.)

Not a mix I made, but it has a lot of stuff I like on it:

Chenard Walcker has a few pretty epic things on this album:

Then there's ol' C-64 tunes and such that get redone at I like stuff like this one.

And of course there's always random yet brilliant music that can be found on YouTube.

Yeah, it's a lot for one post. But I like variety.

Awesome thread

Pink Floyd being a long time favourite, but the list of bands/music I listen to would take up the whole page, some examples below..

Cinematic Orchestra
Terry Reid
the Delivery
Jethro Tull
King Crimson
Beggars Opera
JJ Cale
Gogol Bordello

..mostly stuff in the rock/progressive genre, but I also like alot of electro; Amethystium, Tangerine Dream, Shpongle..
Being a musician myself I sometimes find it easier to listen to music I don't understand (electro), thus cannot analyze/critisize. It is easier to just listen and enjoy.

Here are two of my favourite songs from a Finnish band called Kingston Wall, enjoy!

..a 3 man band with a most awesome rythm-section

I LOVE my grime at the minute

Professor Green - Monster

Wiley - Never Be Your Woman

Major Lazer - Pon De Floor

And one more, taking it back a few years:

Tinchy Stryder - Mainstream Money
One from before he was big...

I also like a lot of mainstream music at the minute, especially the productions of RedOne (and Cascada on some tracks) - as a musician I love the drum engineering by these artists
