A retired Navy doctor wanted to sell a few of this old knick-knacks and posted his Rolex on eBay for $9.95. The seller, a guy named Bob, bought a Rolex watch on the Kwajalien Atoll from a Navy Exchange fifty-two years ago and he wore it almost every day for forty years. He then put the watch away and forgot about it for a decade, finally pulling it out recently to see if he could sell it for a bit of Christmas money.

What he didn't know is that his Rolex was a extremely rare model worn by Sean Connery in his Dr. No, Thunderball and Golf Finger movies and is considered the Holy Grail amongst Rolex collectors.

He was pretty amazed when bids started coming back in the thousands of dollars range, and finally turned to his son to do some detective work a few days later when bids started coming back in the 30,000.00 dollar range.

It was then he found out how rare his old Rolex was, and eventually the bidding closed at 60,100.00.

That's quite a bit of Christmas money.

This particular model can fetch up to 100,000.00 dollars.

Imagine picking one of those up at a yardsale for 10.00.

haha what a waste of money.
It still only tells the time like any other watch.

Good luck to the guy who sold it though....he enjoyed it for a long time. I suppose because he thought it wasnt worth anything he used it for what it was. Unlike the new owner who will probably wrap it up as an investment.

Nice find and great for the seller, it just goes to show that you never know what you may have hidden away in your home somewhere.
