www.haaretz.com...

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday harshly condemned a move by a number of leading rabbis who signed on a ruling to forbid renting and selling homes to Arabs.

"How would we feel if we were told not to sell an apartment to Jews?" asked Netanyahu. "We would protest, and we protest now when it is said of our neighbors."

"Such things cannot be said, not about Jews and not about Arabs. They cannot be said in any democratic country, and especially not in a Jewish and democratic one. The state of Israel rejects these sayings."

Concurrently, dozens of people gathered in front of Independence Hall in Tel Aviv for a spontaneous demonstration against the rabbis' letter

Upon news of the religious ruling, Meretz faction whip Ilan Ghilon immediately asked the attorney general to dismiss each of the rabbis who had signed their names.

I read this about 9 or 10 hours ago, and I was hoping one of the people who were so quick to condemn Israel (or at least create the impression that Israel is racist) for those rabbis' actions will also be as quick to balance out whatever has been said earlier.

But I guess people only care about starting fires, not putting them out.

These may be low level rabbis, that he does not listen to anyway.

Are these jewish rabbis high in the ranks list. You know there is a hierachy, so are these ones high up, and someone Netanyahu would listen to anyway?

The ptb only listen to a certain percentage of humans, they totally ignore most people, and that is just teh way the system works.

The PM can slam them all he likes. The problem is these Rabid Rabbis actually represent a large number of Zionists, and therefore (ultimately) Netanyahu can (and I predict will be) replaced, by an even more right wing PM.

That's the story of every Israel, for as long as I've watched the country i.e. their last PM was right wing, and the next one, just a little more. The only solution is a tackle Israeli media propaganda, and maybe the chance to do this, has already have been missed?

Good on Netanyahu for denouncing the racist sentiment of a few extremist Rabbis that do not represent the opinion of Israeli citizens in general...

Where do you get this info, and why do you spread disinfo?

Only orthodox Jews listen to their Rabbis, no one else really cares about what they say.

Saying most Zionists and Jews obey these people is the farthest thing possible from the truth.

lol and if anything the more Israel progresses the more leftist it gets... 20 years ago no one was even allowed to converse with the PLO.. Now we're negotiating peace with them.. The two state solution which is now being negotiated used to be the most extreme radical left opinion 15 years ago.

So what about all the posts who were VERY defensive of the rabbis' directive... One poster even said that those were GOOD laws.

Even Netanyahu condemned this extremist view.

Lesson: extremists are everywhere, and they include those who are apologetic for other extremists.

A good step in a better direction

Is it not so, that the term of rabbi, is as same as "cleric" and "imam"

The ptb only listen to a certain amount of people.

You have to consider that netanhahu does not listen to these people. Just like there are loads of priests in christian faith, does the leader of a country listen to them all, no. The ptb and you people have to understand only listen to a certain percentage of people. This is something most people just do not understand about our system.
