In the UK it is

A U.K. law has been passed that makes it an offense to launch denial-of-service attacks, which experts had previously called "a legal gray area." Among the provisions of the Police and Justice Bill 2006, which gained Royal Assent on Wednesday, is a clause that makes it an offense to impair the operation of any computer system. Other clauses prohibit preventing or hindering access to a program or data held on a computer, or impairing the operation of any program or data held on a computer.

Could you imagine if the real bot nets got involved, that would be something to see.

edit on 8-12-2010 by aivlas because: (no reason given)

We were shocked to find that more than 12 million IP addresses were connecting and sending information to the C&C servers, making Mariposa one of the largest botnets in history.

Wonder if any of the security companies have seen increased activity.

I can use Visa and Mastercard to pay for porn and support anti-abortion fanatics, Prop 8 homophobic bigots, and the Ku Klux Klan. But I can't use them or PayPal to support Wikileaks, transparency, the First Amendment, and true government reform.

Seems as if theyve slowed their roll a bit now. Anyone hear anything new?

They must be taking their breaks to eat their Hot Pockets, Cup of Noodles and Capri Suns

Erm, actually, no one but WikiLeaks can shutdown WikiLeaks in it's present form. As far as I know after their initial shutdown (through intrusion, mass attack then the cease of delivery of network services/provision to their main site) WikiLeaks has been running steadily using a secure network of encrypted servers operating on all individually controlled areas of the Internet.

Each server replicates from another at preset intervals but operates seperately and independently and has its own secure connection to a main exchange/DNS server. They are in countries like Antigua, Namibiya, Kenya, Morocco, Gibraltar, Hungary, Thailand, Hong Hong, Portugal, Sweden, Holland, etc etc, almost all of which operate on different parts of the main Internet grid (so to speak) and are thus individually monitored, controlled and restricted.

I'd say this is the reason why Obama and the current administration are pushing all of the preparatory paper work/rulings through the law courts now; so they can eventually (after all the WikiLeaks and Hacking of famous websites PROPAGANDA has served it's purpose), stage a cyber-attack on US military/scientific/utilities facilities, and cause some damage (better known in our circles as a FALSE FLAG operation), enabling them to gain the "special circumstances" (but PERMANENT!!!) authority over all subnets in an attempt to negate any further slippages of information over them. Let us not forget that this has all happened before on 9/11, which was also a FALSE FLAG operation, used as an excuse to begin invading the Middle East in a carefully laid-out strategy for lots of reasons (energy, world domination and discovery of secrets in ancient Iraq (Sumeria) to name but a few).

I do hope someone releases something COLOSSAL soon! Aliens, ELE, some earth shattering news that will inspire the world populace and give us something to believe in or fight for once again.

...Just a thought.

I'm not part of anon but I believe the anonops site has been hammered by tptb. The hive is down,4chan is up but anon operates on other links, they're all down, twitter accounts down, facebook down,in short anon is down either some counter hackers took them out or the .gov did.

Wow.

Firstly, this is a reaction by the youth predominantly now that loose organizations on the internet are getting involved in what is really a revolutionary counter attack. Getting these people organized is huge. If a virtual "war" picks up steam the power of these groups could become enormous. Also remember that many of the virtual soldiers that operate on the government payrolls are former rebels themselves.

This could be a real war, the first large scale virtual war. I guess we'll see how organized these guys can get. They certainly have the technological savvy and connections to become very influential if they have the dedication and they play their cards right. Of they could fizzle out over night.

Could be either I suppose. It's possible some hackers got tired of them and went after the group...wouldn't that be something to see? But I suppose that could include the government.

Holy bold we get your point here.

A: Porn- unless it's kiddie porn it is legal
B: Anti Abortion- Unless the group is tied to killing people freedom of choice not illegal again
C: Really?
D: KKK- Unfortunately again freedom of choice, see senator Robert Byrd

While I agree with 3 of those as being questionable of ethics still not even remotely close to make a statement like that. And transparency, in case you haven't noticed wikileaks is withholding some of the info and trickling out the rest after being reviewed, so hows that transparency working for you? It would be a whole lot easier if they just released everything they had if thats what their claimed intentions are. Wake up they are withholding stuff from you and are acting no different than someone that censors things.

I honestly don't think they'll fizzle out.

They've been consistently attacking (and doing serious damage to) the Cult of $cientology for several years now. In the face of legal challenges, intimidation, threats, you name it.

They really don't like anyone messing with internet freedom (correctly so). Even if it is a government, they'll still attack them from every angle, anonymously. The hive acting as one to attack an attacker.

Exactly.

That guy of Swordfish does exist, and he's hiding in every school, college and university in the world that teaches IT and computer languages to a high standard, which basically rules out few these days.

Wikileaks is censoring me ,instead of 500 000 cables they release 250 000 ,OMG this is outrageous !!!!

joking ofcourse

Wikileaks in two years released news like all the big Main Stream Mediums in last 10 years combined
Shame on you for attacking Wikileaks with such a weak argument .
again my signature for you :

History is being made and unfolding as we speak ... those on the wrong side of it by obstructing and impeding the truth from emerging are noted and shall be remembered.

I'm not going to.
Any idea what this is?
I mean, I find all this cybernage fascinating, but I don't know anything about computers.
Some of it looks like a program.
There's a new post every few seconds.
What is it?!
