Well, dalan just posted a link that contained all the info we needed to put this hoax to rest, but the ATS mods removed it because it was a 4Chan link, which we all know contains advertisements for some less-than-wholesome content.

That being said, the 4Chan thread laid out an effort to start a false rumor that a group of hackers had cracked the code, and that the files contained evidence of extraterrestrial activity.

From the first post in the thread:

Likely, the documents contain boring s##t about Iran or North Korea... but what if we started and propogated a rumor, utilizing out mass numbers, that several hackers have cracked the file and determined much of it relates to efforts by world governments to cover up alien contact?

We will say most of the files relate ro the Roswell crash, which WAS of extraterrestrial nature. Furthermore, the documents "reveal" reverse engineering programs conducted at Area 51 (refer to it as the Groom Lake Facility) on the alien transport.

How can we spread this rumor? Google this phrase over and over: "Assange file reveals extraterrestrial contact"

google it over and over to get it to trend. Media will pick up on it. Go to yahoo answers and ask about the rumors, say Hackers from denmark cracked the file.

Tweet about it, post a facebook update about it.

Also, if someone can create a mock news article, we would be golden.

So I guess we should expect the mock news article to be posted a bit later and another round of this.

How many threads are we going to be getting on this subject do you think?

Iol, I may have been one

After reading the bit in the box, i pooped my pants, scrolled up to flag it, and scrolled back down eager to read more, only to be thoroughly disappointed.

I am ashamed.

It's a shame we aren't allowed to take our flags and stars back

this is funny! A mod came into this thread and removed links, AND moderated a comment, yet this thread is still up?

Trolling.

It can not be cracked within the lifetime of our universe with out current technology unless there is a backdoor that the NSA knows about.

I'm being completely serious.

I doubt his insurance file contains hardcore UFO evidence because to be honest, it probably wouldn't be taken seriously. He needs it to be something verifiable, more recent, and not so much within the realm of 'These documents can be faked'.

www.businessinsider.com...

There's mounting evidence that there really are documents with extraterrestrial contact, also likely involving so called "Area 51"

On another forum titled "God (something) Productions", a member on there is speculating that the insurance file may actually be a virus or trojan file.

Assange has asked everyone to download the file and a code to activate it will be released when things go bad.

So if he gets busted, he releases the code, the trojan virus is activated and kills the internet in retaliation.

Kind if makes sense...the ultimate revenge on his part.

which makes me think more so that he's covertly helping the powers that be to kill the internet.
